    Abstract: A microfluidic cartridge with solution reservoir-pump chamber is disclosed. The microfluidic cartridge comprises a channel-chamber layer, a sealing layer, a printed circuit board bound with magnetoresistive biochip. The channel-chamber layer includes at least a waste reservoir, a reaction-detection chamber, a solution reservoir-pump chamber and a plurality of micro-channels. Said solution reservoir-pump chamber realizes both functions of solution reservoir and pump chamber in a single structure. Said sealing layer is sealed with said channel-chamber layer to form an integrated microfluidic system with at least a waste reservoir, a reaction-detection chamber, a solution inlet, a solution reservoir-pump chamber and a micro-channel. Said solution reservoir-pump chamber in the present invention consists of elastic objects inside for sealing and pumping. Under pressure, said elastic object propels solution in the reservoir into said reaction-detection chamber via channels of said plurality of micro-channels.

    Abstract: A drip irrigation emitter or device comprising a flow restrictor helical thread on the outside of a main body, and a cap member that fits over the thread. Water is supplied to the interior of the main body and must flow through a narrow, annular passageway formed by the cap before the water flows through provided restrictor orifices, so no large particles are carried into the orifices or the helical thread to minimize plugging. The water discharges adjacent to the water tube or hose to minimize root intrusion into the irrigation device, and baffles also are provided to minimize root intrusion. The cap can be loosened or removed to flush the thread if foreign material enters the thread.

    Abstract: There is disclosed apparatus and method for determining pumping head requirements for an operating pumping system by subtracting a desired delivery head or pressure from an actual head. The difference represents overpressure, and this overpressure is subtracted from a measured pump total dynamic head to establish the pumping head requirement of the system. The pumping head requirement data is recorded together with other data indicating a measured fluid flow rate. The data so recorded is in a form for plotting a system head curve. Once the system head curve is available it is possible to modify the supply system so as to avoid pumping at a pressure in excess of that which may be required for any given flow rate condition. Such avoidance of overpressure pumping produces an energy saving in the operation of the pumping system.
