  • Patent number: 4313897
Abstract: Shown is a portable dispensing system schematically, with a motorless carbonator of the continuous flow type shown in detail employing a needle type valve that is removable as a unit for replacement or repair and which operates in combination with a float element in the carbonator to regulate flow of gas into the carbonator in a smooth manner that also induces a smooth and efficient flow of inlet water from a pressurized supply tank of water to equal the flow rate of carbonated water being drawn from the carbonator to serve one dispensing valve alone or two at a time.

  • Patent number: 4301827
Abstract: A guided-float accumulator suitable for use with a hydraulic system for an oil well blowout preventer is provided with a wing shut-off valve. Radially inwardly directed outlet parts are aimed at the bottom of the valve wing to generate unbalanced reaction forces which oppose the bernoulli effect forces caused by rapid movement of fluid through the chamber of the shut-off valve, thus preventing premature closing of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4300311
Abstract: A valve for controlling the level of solution in a plant container of a hydroponic irrigation system is disclosed. The valve includes a chamber having a top wall with an opening for the passage of liquid therethrough and having an inlet port below the top wall. Hydroponic irrigation solution is pumped into the container by way of the inlet port. A closure member within the chamber is moveable into a position blocking the flow of liquid through the opening by a lost-motion connection to a float and is held in its blocking position, so long as the pump continues to operate, by the pressure of the liquid in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4294229
Abstract: The module includes a panel of thermal insulation which facially separates the interior space into an outer, facially large, volumetrically small chamber and an inner volumetrically large chamber. The two chambers are communicated above and below the insulation panel to establish a convection path for the heat transfer liquid. A seasonally reversible check valve provides for unidirectional circulation. The larger chamber is provided with a relatively large surface in contact with the room that is to be heated and cooled.

  • Patent number: 4243066
Abstract: A valve incorporates a float chamber containing a float, and an air chamber above the float chamber containing a valve element movable vertically between a port in the bottom of the air chamber communicating with the top of the float chamber and an air vent in the top of the air chamber the float and the valve element being connected by a push rod passing through the port. The push rod has a cross section presenting several lobes. A plain tubular guide forms at least part of a passage between the float chamber and the air chamber terminating at the top end in the port. The push rod passes through the tubular guide, the lobes being a sliding fit therein. The valve element may rest in a cup-shaped cage within the air chamber. The upper end of the push rod may be slotted to permit it to straddle the bars of the cage and enter the cage so as to engage the valve element.

  • Patent number: 4114641
Abstract: A sewage relief valve includes a cylindrical housing mounted on the upper end of an upper end of a riser connected to a sewer line, the housing includes a cylindrical through-bore with the upper end of the bore sealed by means of a dome cover held in place by a resilient O-ring, and a float supported beneath the housing on a lift linkage is responsive to rise with the level of liquid in the riser for forcing the cover from the end of the housing thereby relieving the sewage line. The lift linkage means is supported within the housing by support means which permits the linkage to be lifted and carried upward out of the housing by the float means when liquid flows therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4100928
Abstract: Telescoped inlet and outlet tubes having a valve between upper extremities thereof are each formed with end telescoped, upper and lower parts, the tube upper parts being assembled movable together and the tube lower parts being assembled movable together for simultaneously increasing and decreasing the respective tube end telescoping to selectively change the overall height of the ball cock. Positive securement in a height adjusted position against straight vertical relative movement is obtained by positive radial interengagement between the outlet tube parts with either selective relative rotation or selective release of the interengagement with re-engagement providing the height adjustment. An upper main case covers the valve assembly and an inner end of a float connected valve actuating lever projects into the upper main case to a case slot, being pivoted therein and operably connected to the valve.

  • Patent number: 4082110
Abstract: A simple modification to existing water closets of the type which utilize a vertical float assembly that permits the user to select, each time the toilet is to be flushed, whether a relatively small or relatively large amount of water will be required to flush the wastes from the toilet bowl. The water level control mechanism is automatically biased to fill the water tank of the toilet to a first, relatively low level. A push-button may then be actuated to release the float and open the inlet valve to permit additional water to fill the tank to a second, relatively high level. In this manner, water conservation may be maximized.

  • Patent number: 4072164
Abstract: A float controlled valve has a chamber and a first diaphragm forming a part of the chamber walls; a passage admits liquid from the valve inlet to the chamber; a second diaphragm forms a further part of the chamber walls and has a bleed-off passage which may be closed by action of the float; pressure build up in the chamber acts on the first diaphragm to close the valve; the pressure build up also acts on the second diaphragm to deflect the bleed off passage and so depress the float below the liquid surface when the valve closes; a sharp pointed and reduced diameter entrance to the passage at the valve inlet reduces blockage likelyhood; a helix on the float actuated means for closing the bleed-off passage provides facility for adjustments.

  • Patent number: 3989043
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for regulating the flow of solution from a fluid reservoir to the vein of a patient. All of the embodiments of the present invention include a first fluid chamber having an inlet and a discharge port and means disposed within a first fluid chamber for maintaining the level of solution therein between upper and lower levels. In all of the embodiments of the present invention, an upper and lower valve seat is provided within the first chamber which interacts with a float or floats contained therein to from two valve mechanisms which maintain a constant rate of flow of solution independent of the initial height or variations in height of solution contained within the reservoir during its depletion. In two of the embodiments of the present invention, a second fluid chamber is coupled to the first fluid chamber by means of a drip chamber which permits the visual counting of the rate of flow of solution from the first chamber to the second fluid chamber.
