Abstract: An electric pressure cooker comprises a body having outer pot and inner pot received therein and a lid covering the cooker body. The outer pot and the lid comprise matching teeth for lockingly engagement upon rotating the lid into closure. The cooker body comprises a pair of cooker handles extending outwardly from a sidewall thereof. The cooker handle comprises handgrip portion. The inner pot comprises inner pot body and a pair of inner pot handles connected thereto. The handgrip portion extends to align with or beyond the inner pot handle, so that a user holding the cooker handles will avoid gripping the inner pot handles. A vertical gap between the inner pot handle and the handgrip portion allows hand access. When the user is reaching for the inner pot handle the fingers will contact the cooker handle, thereby avoiding mistakenly gripping the cooker handle.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and valve assembly that can be used to promote the laminar flow of a variety of fluids and gases. In one embodiment, the valve assembly can be used to remove entrained water bubbles from a water supply. This, in turn, increases the density of water running through an associated water meter. This ensures that the water meter is not inaccurately including entrained air as metered water. The result is more accurate water readings and reduced utility bills. The assembly can be externally adjusted using an adjustment tool so as to increase or decrease the tension on an interior spring which, in turn, increases or decreases the rate at which the interior block oscillates.

  • Patent number: 8375982
Abstract: A hydraulic manifold has features adapted to the needs of hybrid vehicle applications. In one embodiment, multifunction valves selectively regulate fluid flow among primary and auxiliary flow paths. A normally closed butterfly valve is biased by a relatively small secondary biasing force against rotation in first and second (opposite) directions, and by a relatively large principal biasing force against rotation in the first direction past a transitional angular position at which the principal biasing force takes effect. An actuator selectively controls the transitional angular position and the magnitude of the principal biasing force. In the first direction, flow must overcome only the secondary biasing force to pass the valve. In the second direction, any flow sufficient to overcome the secondary biasing force but not the principal biasing force will divide into a first flow passing the valve and a second flow induced to enter an auxiliary path upstream.

Abstract: A shunt valve assembly includes an electromechanical brake mechanism that locks a position of a pressure setting mechanism within a shunt valve assembly. The electromechanical brake can maintain the position of the pressure setting mechanism in the presence of a relatively strong magnetic field to maintain a set pressure differential within the shunt valve assembly. In certain cases, the shunt valve requires repositioning of the pressure setting mechanism within the shunt valve assembly to adjust a fluid flow rate through the shunt valve assembly. A clinician can activate an external controller to transmit a signal to the shunt valve assembly through magnetically coupled antennas between the controller and the shunt valve. The shunt valve assembly utilizes the signal to activate the braking mechanism and unlock the pressure setting mechanism. The clinician then operates the controller to non-invasively reposition the pressure setting mechanism and adjust the pressure at which the shunt valve opens.

Abstract: A manual fluid-control valve has a housing defining a chamber formed with a seat and with a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet opening into the chamber at opposite sides of the seat and a valve body in the housing having an end face and displaceable axially forward into a closed position with the end face engaging the seat and blocking fluid flow through the chamber between the inlet and outlet and an open position with the end face spaced-axially backward from the seat and permitting fluid flow through the chamber between the inlet and outlet. An operating element is axially displaceable in the housing adjacent the valve body but out of direct contact with the valve body and a spring is braced between the operating element and the valve body and constitutes the only axial-force- transmitting link between the body and the element. An operating mechanism is connected to the operating element for axially displacing same and thereby also displacing the valve body between its positions via the spring.

  • Patent number: 4901978
Abstract: A pair of opposed valve members defines a radial flow path therebetween which extends from the outer radial peripheries of each valve member to an axial bore formed in one of the valve members. The other valve member is mounted on a stem having an upper end which is urged upwardly by a spring disposed around the stem. A substantially cylindrical element is threadably engaged in the upper end of a valve body in which the valve members are received and the stem is urged thereagainst. In another embodiment, the stem is fixedly connected to the cylindrical element. Rotational movement of the cylindrical element axially moves the stem thereby controlling flow through the valve.

  • Patent number: 4777978
Abstract: A pressure regulator includes a valve urged by a spring and a plunger in connection with the spring to adjust the tension of the spring. The plunger has a transverse pin engaging with a camming face of a sleeve around the plunger. The camming face lies in a plane inclining a radial plane of the plunger and causes the plunger to move axially when the transverse pin moves along the camming face.

  • Patent number: 4681297
Abstract: A pressure regulating solenoid valve is disclosed which comprises a valve body having a flow path therethrough having an inlet and an outlet. The valve body has a main valve seat within the flow path, and a main valve member mounted within the valve body for movement between an open position, in which the main valve member is clear of the main valve seat for the primary flow of fluid between the inlet and outlet, and a closed position in which the main valve member engages the main valve seat so as to block the primary flow of fluid through the main valve seat. A spring biased combination throttling valve/check valve is interposed within the flow path between the upstream and downstream sides of the main valve seat so as to permit a secondary flow of fluid from the inlet to the outlet of the valve housing when the main valve is closed and when the pressure differential of the flow through this secondary valve seat is above a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4545405
Abstract: A multi-position pressure relief valve settable to operate at different pressure limits includes an adjustment rod, a valve bias spring and a valve member extending coaxially with one another, the axial spacing between the rod and the valve member determining the pressure limit for the valve. The rod carries a pin adapted to engage a stepped surface of a limit select member, the steps defining a plurality of stop positions for the rod, and each stop position corresponding to a different pressure limit setting. A control knob attached to the rod enables the rod to be manipulated to locate the pin in the stop position corresponding to the pressure limit desired.

  • Patent number: 4248308
Abstract: In a well valve such as a safety valve or gas lift valve for controlling the fluid flow through a well tubing having a valve closure member with means for moving the valve member in a direction to open the valve and spring means acting against the opening force for moving the valve to a closed position, the improvement of an external adjustment for adjusting the spring closing force. A shoulder member is longitudinally movable in the housing but non-rotatably movable relative to the housing and abuts the spring. Adjusting means is rotatably connected, but is longitudinally fixed, relative to the housing and is exposed to the exterior of the housing for allowing external rotation of the adjusting means. Coacting threads between the shoulder means and the adjusting means moves the shoulder toward and away from the spring by externally rotating the adjusting means thereby varying the closing force of the spring.
