Plural Biasing Means Patents (Class 137/529)
  • Patent number: 4009756
Abstract: Sub-surface water is pumped through a bore hole to an oil-bearing formation by a pump installation in the bore hole including a submergible pump and an adjustable control valve at the discharge side of the pump. The control valve closes automatically when the pump is not operating to prevent reverse flow and loss of flooding pressure and to insure a back pressure on the pump during starting, and is controlled hydraulically from the surface of the earth to vary the flow to the oil-bearing formation. A novel control valve structure provides accurate and reliable control without unduly restricting the flow volume.

  • Patent number: 3996963
Abstract: A nozzle for atomizing a liquid which includes a nozzle housing, a nozzle body supported in an annular groove of the nozzle housing which body defines a nozzle orifice and a valve body which coacts with the nozzle orifice to close and open the orifice by movement of the valve body along a line through the center of the orifice. The nozzle body is movable in the groove in a lateral direction relative to the direction of the opening and closing movement of the valve body.

  • Patent number: 3995657
Abstract: A liquid fuel filler cap provided with a valve assembly in a channel extending through said cap said valve assembly comprising means defining at least part of a channel, a valve seat in said channel, a valve member adapted to co-operate with said valve seat to seal said channel, and means to bias said valve member into engagement with said seat, said biasing means comprising a pivoted member comprising a first portion which is adapted to move said valve member, and a second portion, and means for engaging with said second portion and for imparting a turning moment to said pivoted member which is greater than and in the opposite sense to the turning moment imparted to the pivoted member by said valve member alone when the valve member moves away from the valve seat, said first portion and said second portion being on opposite sides of the point of pivotal support of said pivoted member.

  • Patent number: 3945399
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a electrically modulated regulation valve for hydraulic systems, said valve essentially comprising a slider-shutter of complex shape, whose length is considerable with respect to its diameter and is housed, along an appreciable fraction of its length, in an outflow channel, the latter being cylindrical with two different internal diameters and offering a guiding surface for the slider-shutter. The slider-shutter has a prolonged conical portion from which a cylindrical rod extends, having properly shaped projections which act as guiding members. The advantage achieved is a most accurate regulation of the hydraulic pressure.

  • Patent number: 3945397
Abstract: A plate valve comprises a domed resilient catcher plate positioned above a valve seat to limit the stroke of a valve closure plate controlling fluid flow through passages in the valve seat. The catcher plate has its concave surface facing the valve seat and is held in position only in the region of the valve axis, the outer edge of the catcher plate being free.

  • Patent number: 3938551
Abstract: A general anesthesia rebreathing system comprised of a disposable portion adapted to be easily coupled to and decoupled from a permanent portion. The system is designed so as to minimize the structural complexity and cost of the disposable portion while assuring that the disposable portion includes all elements which are likely to contaminate gases inhaled by a patient. The disposable portion includes conventional breathing tubing for coupling a source of fresh gas, as from an anesthesia machine, to a patient and in addition an overflow tube for coupling the patient end of the system to an overflow (pop-off) valve, preferably mounted on the machine and constituting part of the permanent portion. The overflow tube entrance is located close to the patient end of the system and in communication with the tubing which conveys expired gas to a reservoir, such as a conventional breathing bag, mounted at the machine end.

  • Patent number: 3930756
Abstract: A metering pulse pump for metering an additive liquid into a liquid carrier under high pressure. A high-pressure, rapidly reciprocating piston pump is provided at its outlet end with a pressure-relief valve including a spring pressure control permitting the valve to open under varying pre-set pressure differentials across the valve. A diaphragm pump having first and second chambers separated by a diaphragm is provided with one of the chambers communicating directly with the outlet of the piston pump upstream of the pressure-relief valve, liquid carrier emitted under pressure from the piston pump serving to drive the diaphragm pump in a pumping stroke, the second chamber of the diaphragm pump having inflow and outflow ports with respective check valves permitting only inflow and outflow of an additive liquid into and out of the second chamber.
