Spring Guides Valve Head Patents (Class 137/543.17)
  • Patent number: 11662029
Abstract: Flow control valves may be positioned downstream of water meters to increase pressure and compress entrained water vapour passing through the meters. However, turbulence within such valves can cause the valve's head to move radially, bending a shaft within the valve which may break. Accordingly, there is provided a flow control valve comprising: a housing having a flow passage; a valve seat defined within the flow passage; a valve head moveable to a closed position to engage the valve seat and seal the flow passage; a shaft secured to the valve head; a support slidingly mounting the shaft within the housing; a spring biasing the valve head to the closed position and configured to maintain the valve head in the closed position until a predetermined pressure is applied; and a guide assembly extending along at least a portion of the flow passage to constrain radial movement of the valve head.

  • Patent number: 6537043
Abstract: A discharge valve is provided for implementation between a discharge pressure zone and a discharge chamber. The discharge valve is operable between an open position for enabling fluid flow between the discharge pressure zone and the discharge chamber and a closed position for prohibiting fluid flow between the discharge pressure zone and the discharge chamber. The discharge valve includes a housing defining a cavity and having a flow aperture therethrough. A valve disc is slidably disposed within the housing and is operable for defining the open and closed positions of the discharge valve. The valve disc includes a contoured body for reducing stresses experienced within the valve disc and improving fluid flow therearound.

  • Patent number: 6532986
Abstract: A freezeless wall hydrant has a fluid inlet end connected to a source of pressurized water, and a fluid outlet end. A check valve is placed in the bore of the valve body and is spring loaded to open only when extreme water pressure within the inlet valve lifts a spring loaded piston element to permit the highly pressurized water to move through the bore in the valve body and be relieved as it escapes rearwardly into the original source of pressurized water.

  • Patent number: 6443183
Abstract: The fluid flow check valve uses a flexure plate or plates to accommodate the valve disk's axial motion required to open and close the valve. The flexure plate also limits the disk's motion in any lateral direction, so the valve disk will align properly with the valve seat and seal when it closes. The flexure plate is a flat, axial spring, made by cutting or otherwise manufacturing spiral cuts in a round, sheet metal disk. Valve qualities such as closing force, size and rigidity to lateral disk motion can be modified by varying the number and configuration of the plates, and by modifying plate characteristics. The compactness of the flexural plate design allows for a shorter valve length and cost as well as increased opportunity for flow optimization.

  • Patent number: 6284130
Abstract: Described is a filter cartridge having a clean side anti-drainback valve. The filter cartridge includes an annular filter element having a hollow core with an annular valve support 40 disposed therein. The clean side anti-drainback valve includes a valve 60 and an annular valve seat 70 having a base, a central opening, and a peripheral flange 82. The peripheral flange is mounted atop an upper surface 90 of the annular valve support such that the central opening is in alignment with the passage 50 leading out of the filter cartridge. The valve 60 is mounted on the valve seat and is biased by a coil spring to a normally closed position so that when the engine is not running clean side oil is retained within the filter cartridge. A dirty side anti-drainback valve can also be included.

  • Patent number: 6250336
Abstract: On a recreational vehicle, a water supply coupling is provided to permit the hookup of an external water supply to the plumbing of the recreational vehicle. The coupling selectively permits one-way flow into, but not out from, the plumbing, thereby maintaining the pressurized integrity of the plumbing system. The coupling has a movable check member which may be seated against an annulus to create a seal. In various disclosed embodiments, the check member may be a check ball, a mushroom-shaped check member having a hemispherical seating portion and a stem, and a two-piece check member.

  • Patent number: 6187182
Abstract: The filter cartridge assembly has a valve body having an interior flow passage, a filter across the interior flow passage, and a check valve assembly in the valve body. The filter removes particulates as small as 0.003 microns. A check valve element adjacent to a valve seat in the interior flow passage has a check valve poppet and a stem. The check valve poppet has a relatively narrow neck, and the check valve poppet is tapered inwardly from the outlet end toward the neck at an oblique angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the valve body that is substantially equal to the oblique angle of the annular valve seat.
