Closed Circulating System Patents (Class 137/563)
  • Patent number: 4129150
Abstract: A fluid distributor for distributing a fluid into a plurality of flow paths. Each flow path can be individually opened or closed without disturbing the flow of liquid in the other paths. The distributor comprises a plurality of cells, each of which includes an intake orifice which is in fluid communication with a discharge conduit from which the fluid flows for subsequent use and an evacuator conduit from which the fluid flows for eventual recycle to the intake orifice. An obturator is provided which, in one position, stops flow from the intake orifice to the discharge orifice while permitting flow from the intake orifice to the evacuation orifice and which, in its other operative position, stops flow from the intake orifice to the evacuation orifice while permitting flow from the intake orifice to the discharge orifice. Each cell includes valve means to adjust the flow to the evacuation conduit to be the same as that to the discharge conduit.

  • Patent number: 4117550
Abstract: An emulsifying system for mixing accurate ratios of two or more liquids to form an emulsion. The liquids are preferably, but not exclusively, water and oil. A supply circuit delivers accurate mixtures of the two or more liquids. An emulsifier emulsifies the mixture to form an emulsion. A container stores a quantity of the emulsion that may vary between predetermined limits and an output circuit is provided to draw the emulsion from the storage container. The emulsion storage container permits the supply of the mixture and the emulsion to the storage container at a rate independent of the rate at which the emulsion is drawn from the output circuit.

  • Patent number: 4092993
Abstract: A method and system for carrying out the method, relating to mixing of solutions, wherein the base liquid in a tank is circulated through an endless circuit while the chemical is gradually introduced into the circulating flow base liquid to achieve through mixing. A chemical is withdrawn under valve control into a measuring receptacle prior to mixing same with the base liquid. Provision is included for rinsing the chemical source container, the resulting rinse solution being automatically introduced into the tank, leaving the source container in condition to meet legal requirements for disposal. To simplify disposal of rinsed containers and discourage re-use thereof, a feature of the method and system involves means for collapsing the containers. A novel multiple valve assembly enables all features to be embodied in a simplified and condensed system.

  • Patent number: 4090530
Abstract: An apparatus is provided wherein, in a static condition a lower phase liquid is covered by an upper phase liquid which is non-miscible with the lower phase liquid. In operation, the upper phase liquid is removed from a selected area of the lower phase liquid by raising the upper phase liquid to pass over a weir into a second chamber. Simultaneously a portion of the lower phase liquid is circulated over a second weir and caused to pass through a portion of the upper phase liquid to provide a scrubbing or cleansing action. When operation ceases the liquids automatically return to the static condition levels wherein the lower phase liquid is completely covered by the upper phase liquid. During operation articles or materials may be caused to enter and exit the lower phase liquid in the selected area, for treatment therein without contacting the upper phase liquid. The apparatus is useful in cleaning, degreasing, plating, pre-plating treatments and the like.

  • Patent number: 4056122
Abstract: A system is disclosed for a plural component plastics reaction injection molding machine which provides continuous supply and recycling of each of a plurality of liquid components between a mixing head and separate supply tanks for the respective liquid components. The system is designed to use a portion of the respective recycle conduits of the several components as supply conduits to the head, in parallel with the normal supply conduit to the head, during periods of reaction injection taking place in the mixing head, whereby to permit the employment of smaller diameter conduits in the aforesaid portions of the system without reducing the capacity of the molding system. Further economy is achieved by design of the aforesaid portions of the conduit systems to dispose either the supply or recycle conduit concentrically within the other.

  • Patent number: 4014052
Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining a predetermined liquid level within a tank while effecting the continuous addition and removal of liquid within the tank. The apparatus is provided with a housing that mounts directly on a side wall of the tank with the housing extending on both sides of the wall, so that it is partially inside and partially outside the tank. The housing has a first passageway which receives fresh liquid from a pressurized supply and introduces a portion of the fresh liquid into the tank. The remainder of the fresh liquid is provided to a second passageway which is connected between the first passageway and a drain. The second passageway has a constriction near its inlet, which accelerates liquid flowing through it and injects the liquid into the second passageway at a high speed. This produces a region of low pressure in the second passageway. A third passageway is connected to the region of low pressure and it is coupled to the water in the tank.

  • Patent number: 4007755
Abstract: A system for injecting a predetermined amount of additive fluid into a main stream of fluid which controls the amount of additive injected by a timing circuit. A pump continuously circulates the additive through a circuitous path having a valve which diverts the additive into the main stream. A control system receives signals from a turbine meter in the main stream and opens the valve a predetermined length of time at a frequency depending on the signals received from the turbine meter, thereby maintaining a constant concentration of the additive in the main stream.

  • Patent number: 3995430
Abstract: A flow control apparatus having a noise and vibration suppression arrangement associated therewith. A suitable piping arrangement permits introduction of a pressurized fluid into a chamber above a valve plug movably disposed within the casing of the flow control apparatus. The fluid is conducted into the plug chamber from a region having a pressure therein higher than the pressure immediately beneath the valve plug and passes from the plug chamber to mix with the high velocity inlet flow entering the flow control apparatus to dissipate the energy associated with the influent flow and to prevent excessive noise and vibration levels within the flow control apparatus.

  • Patent number: 3960174
Abstract: A hydraulic circuit comprises a first tank elevated above a second tank and openly communicating therewith by a conduit adapted to continuously maintain the second tank at full capacity with a hydraulic fluid. The hydraulic fluid is pumped out of the second tank and to a work system wherefrom it is recircuited back through a filtering system, retained in the first tank. Upon malfunctioning of the filtering system to prevent the egress of hydraulic fluid therethrough, the increased pressure level of the recircuited hydraulic fluid will function to open a directional control check valve in the second tank to by-pass the conduit normally communicating hydraulic fluid from the first tank to the second tank.
