  • Patent number: 4305426
Abstract: This invention relates to apparatus for continuously discharging liquid from a container, such as a waste water tank having a discharge pipe with an inlet located adjacent the container floor and an outlet located outwardly of the container. The liquid flow is controlled by a control unit which operates as a function of the liquid level in the container. The discharge pipe has a riser section between its inlet and its outlet which extends upwardly to an apex section to define an overflow for the liquid. The riser section is adjustable in height which is controlled by control means that always maintains the overflow at a constant elevation below the liquid level in the container.

  • Patent number: 4222520
Abstract: A framework mounted on wheels to follow a ditch path carries a plurality of siphon tubes suspended at their outer end from an arm pivotable in response to a float detecting the water level in the ditch, and the inner end of the tubes contain water impeller blades mounted on a common shaft through all tube heads, retaining the heads in submerged position in the ditch. The structure supporting the outer tube ends is spring biased to raise the tubes, and each tube has a flexible mid-portion and a water trap in the outer end. A silt remover agitator is mounted on a longitudinal track and powered to move between the opposite ends of the framework to entrain silt in the water for removal by the siphon tubes. A wheel trash remover at the upstream end of the framework is self-powered by the current to catch and eject debris from the ditch water, and a dam at the downstream end of the framework retains the ditch water under the framework.

  • Patent number: 4213479
Abstract: A portable eduction unit includes a tank, a single first hose for extending into a source of solids and liquid, such hose being connected to the tank through a check valve which opens in response to a partial vacuum in the tank. A hose within the tank has one end supported by a float and communicates with the first hose through a check valve that opens in response to pressurization of the tank, and a shut-off valve for controlling the flow between the first-mentioned hose and the check valves.

  • Patent number: 4084796
Abstract: A liquid mixing device for mixing liquids in a mixing tank. The device providing means for mixing liquids such as liquid chemicals that are generally difficult to mix and mixing these chemicals together to form a homogeneous solution. The device is adapted for skimming an unmixed liquid on top of the liquid level with a heavier liquid at the bottom of the mixing tank. Also the device will mix an unmixed liquid at various levels in the mixing tank with a heavier liquid at the bottom of the tank.

  • Patent number: 4052180
Abstract: A freezing barrel with mixing and refrigerating apparatus associated therewith has an inlet at one end to receive a prepared mix to be frozen and has a spigot at the other end for dispensing the ice cream. The prepared ice cream mix is supplied from a reservoir having a float controlled uniform rate of flow to the freezing barrel in each operation. The float is supported on a hollow open ended stem slidable in an upright tubular support and an opening is provided in the stem for gravity constant pressure flow of the mix thereinto as ice cream is drawn off through the spigot. Flow through the opening is controlled by a novel valve such that the rate of such flow is equal to or slightly more than the freezing and mixing capacity of the freezing barrel. The upper end of the stem is open to atmosphere through the valve to admit air into the mix.

  • Patent number: 4015629
Abstract: An adjustable-flow floating weir assembly is provided for regulating the flow of liquid out of a basin which receives a constant or variable flow of liquid. The weir assembly communicates with the exterior of the basin and has notches through which liquid from the basin flows into the weir assembly. The buoyancy of the weir assembly can be changed to correspondingly vary the vertical position of the weir assembly relative to the liquid level in the basin to thereby regulate the flow of liquid through the notches into the weir assembly and to the exterior of the basin.

  • Patent number: 3967633
Abstract: A gas vent tube for removing gas from a container while minimizing loss of iquids. The vent is mounted in a cylindrical container on a 360.degree. rotating joint and has a buoyant material attached to always maintain the vent in an upright position. The pickup tube also has a buoyancy closure valve to prevent the loss of liquid when the end of the pickup tube is not in a gas, and may be provided with a check valve when the container is submerged in a second liquid to prevent the intrusion of the second liquid into the container.

  • Patent number: 3935881
Abstract: An apparatus for steady-state volume rate flow control from a variable depth liquid having a floating weir assembly of the type with an inlet weir crest over which liquid may flow from said weir crest to a discharge opening through which liquid may flow from said weir. In one form, the weir assembly has a pressure responsive flow control means. When said pressure responsive flow control means is active, said means opposes the buoyancy of said floating weir to position said inlet crest of said weir at a selected distance below the surface of said variable depth liquid independent of the depth of said liquid to establish a steady-state volume rate of liquid flow from said weir. At other times, when said pressure responsive control means is inactive, the buoyancy of said floating weir positions said inlet crest of said weir above the surface of said variable depth liquid independent of the depth of said liquid to establish a zero rate of liquid flow from said weir.
