Abstract: A rotating union for transferring a material stream, and especially a bearing damaging material stream, includes, a generally cylindrical body and an annular sleeve that is annularly spaced from the body and rotatably coupled thereto via a pair of axially-spaced bearings. The body and the sleeve are formed with ports and interconnecting passages for carrying the material stream and these ports and passages communicate with each other via a material transfer interface that is sealed by at least one dynamic seal assembly. Finely lapped material is used to improve the quality of the dynamic seal faces, and the seal faces are uniformly spring loaded. This, along with the axial spacing of the bearings, helps to minimize seal face misalignment and consequent leakage. Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to provide a portable hose cart assembly capable of stacking, yet having circular hose reel end flanges. The portable hose cart assembly utilizes a supporting frame structure constructed and arranged to be nested on top of a similar supporting frame structure. The supporting frame structure is also constructed and arranged such that a similar supporting frame structure can be nested on top of the supporting frame structure. A hose reel structure for receiving and supporting a length of hose is rotatably mounted within the supporting frame structure. Circular end flanges are fixed to the ends of the hose reel structure. A handle structure movable between a stacking position and an operating position is connected to the supporting frame structure. The handle structure has a locking mechanism such that the handle structure may be secured in the operating position.

  • Patent number: 5787923
Abstract: A hose reel assembly for taking up and feeding out a hose. The assembly includes a non-rotatable shaft having opposite ends, a reel for storing the hose rotatable on the shaft and a hub mounted on the shaft at one side of the reel between the reel and one end of the shaft so that the hub may be slidably applied to and removed from the shaft independent of the reel. The assembly further includes a coupling on the hub for connecting the hub and the hose. The shaft and the hub include passaging for supplying fluid to the hose. A seal is provided between the shaft and the hub adjacent to the passaging for preventing fluid leakage. The hub is releasably connected to the reel for conjoint rotation of the hub and the reel on the shaft and is disconnectable from the reel so that the hub may be removed from one end of the shaft to permit replacement of the seal without removing the reel from the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5758685
Abstract: A portable hose cart apparatus for windably holding a flexible hose and for transporting thereof. The cart includes a pair of vertical side frames shaped in the form of flanking arms each having a hub bearing surface. The frame provides a base structure for steel components that are secured by use of rotatable frame fasteners. The steel is encompassed by a seamless plastic sleeve that shrinks to the steel through a heating process. Distal ends of the steel are bound by use of a wedge shaped locking block which frictionally secures the steel tubes to forward and upper support members. A spool assembly is positioned between the frame sides forming a hose support surface therebetween, the frame sides having a shape to minimize plastic material yet maximize support when the cart is being transported.

  • Patent number: 5707186
Abstract: A chuck-actuating spindle assembly has a hollow shaft extending along and rotatable about an axis, a clamping bar parallel to and rotatable with the shaft and axially displaceable relative to the shaft to clamp and release an object carried on the shaft, and a rotary union for transmitting a fluid to the object carried on the shaft. The union has in turn a union housing nonrotatable about the axis, an annular bar seal face on the clamping bar, and a sealing member axially movable in the union housing independently of the bar face, forming a pressurizable space with the union housing, and having an annular member seal face axially confronting and axially engageable with the bar seal face. The seal faces form a portion of a passage extending from the space along the bar and shaft to the object. Rotation of the sealing member about the axis relative to the union housing is inhibited and the member is braced against the union housing axially away from the bar seal face with a predetermined biasing force.

Abstract: A pump for distributing water at an extremely high-pressure to several appliances. Every appliance can connect and disconnect independently and has associated with it a device that diverts the water trapped in it when it disconnects. The object is to minimize wear in the water-diversion device. The device accommodates a constricted section in the form of an annular space that the water trapped in the appliance can escape through. Such pumps are employed for cleaning a wide range of articles.

Abstract: A personal hygiene fixture is provided as a retrofit unit designed to mount directly onto a toilet tank inlet, being interposed in the fresh water supply line where it attaches to the tank. The appliance has a diversion valve which diverts water from the supply line to a tube leading to an irrigation nozzle mounted to the underside of the toilet seat. The knob controlling the irrigation is part of the valve, and is thus rigidly mounted to the tank fill valve so that it is easy to install and operate. A second diversion valve with a flexible line leading to a douche wand can also be incorporated in the valve unit to provide a dual-function hygiene appliance.

  • Patent number: 5657789
Abstract: The wall mount hose cart of the instant invention is of a shape and design allowing preassembly thereby eliminating the need for instruction manuals and associated product packaging necessary of wall mount hose reels that are sold in an unassembled state. The wall mount hose reel employs a single unitary frame for support of a flexible garden hose to be wound into a coil of multiple layers by use of a directional stress relieving hose reel spool. Reel flanges are oblong shaped for holding of the hose within the form spool yet providing the nesting ability for assembled carte. A handle is foldable for storage with locks concealed within the base of the handle and a syringe type hub attachment is further disclosed for removal and maintenance of the water seals without tools. Hub attachments are interchangeable allowing the crank to be attached to either side of the apparatus allowing left or right hand operation.

  • Patent number: 5647572
Abstract: A lightweight blowout preventer having a low profile is disclosed. Each of the rams have a sealing ring to be positioned thereabout to seal leaks from occurring between its bonnet and the ram body, thereby permitting the use of only about four connecting bolts for each side of the bonnet to the body and torqued for ordinary holding. A hinge plate is provided to allow selection of the side of the body for two associated bonnets. The hinge plate also is a manifold for the passageways for the hydraulic fluid to the fluid hinges. The hinges each includes a telescopic balancing sub with only one side spring for applying balanced pressure with the applied closing or opening hydraulic fluid to the hinge regardless of whether opening or closing hydraulic pressure is applied. The hydraulic passageways in the bonnets are located between the guideway extensions and the outside surfaces of the bonnets. The hinge plate and the bonnets can be inverted so that they can be mounted on either of two sides of the body.

  • Patent number: 5538292
Abstract: A rotary union includes a housing which encases a rotor having a first sealing surface and a stator having a second sealing surface. The sealing surfaces are biased against each other due to a load exerted by a biasing member. An inlet chamber is in communication with the fluid being transposed by the union and operates to urge the stator against the rotor due to the pressurized fluid in the chamber reacting against the stator. The stator and the housing define a reaction chamber. Pressurized fluid supplied to the reaction chamber operates to urge the stator away from the rotor thus enabling the disengagement of the sealing surfaces.
