Abstract: Methods and apparatus to detect and/or recover from failures in valve control devices. An apparatus includes an input signal generator to provide a digital input signal to a first converter. The first converter corresponds to one of a supply converter or an exhaust converter. The supply converter controls actuation of a supply relay to deliver pressurized fluid to an actuator operatively coupled to a valve in a process control system. The exhaust converter to control actuation of an exhaust relay to exhaust the pressurized fluid from the actuator. The digital input signal triggers application of a current to the first converter to open the first converter. The apparatus further including a failure detector to: determine a difference in at least one of a pressure in the actuator or a position of a flow control member in the valve; and detect a failure when the difference satisfies a failure threshold.

Abstract: A terminal valve having a cone (9) that communicates with a valve seat (10) of a seat ring (19) and cooperates with a veil (12) to control flow. The valve seat (10) and the veil (12) together form a sealing element, which seals against the cone (9) as well as the valve body (1). The cone (9) has a cylindrical portion (46) with slits (49, 50) that form a flow passage area which allows a flow that corresponds to a modified logarithmic function.

  • Patent number: 7591291
Abstract: A fuel receiver assembly, that permits replacement of a worn fuel receiver without draining the fuel tank, includes a check valve receptacle having a male-pipe-threaded nipple which engages the female-threaded pipe coupling of the fuel tank. The check valve receptacle has a spring-biased, normally closed check valve that prevents fuel from escaping from the fuel tank. Fuel pressure from the refueling pump opens the normally-closed check valve. The check valve receptacle is designed to be a relatively permanent installation in the fuel tank, having ultra-low-wear components. The check valve receptacle also has a female-threaded socket that is coaxial with the male-pipe-threaded nipple. A specially-designed male-threaded fuel receiver engages the female-threaded socket. Sealing between the check valve receptacle and the replaceable fuel receiver is accomplished by an O-ring seal installed on the fuel receiver.

Abstract: The aim is to devise a gas plug connector that permits a gas plug to be connected or disconnected only when an additional shut-off valve has been manually closed. To that end the housing (1) of the gas plug connector has a bearing (36) for a switching element (35) that on the one hand is fitted with a guide device (37), on which one end of a plunger (11; 12) installed in the base (2) of the housing (1) is supported, whereas the other end of the plunger (11: 12) is connected to a valve head (15) of a shut-off valve (8) positioned in the gas-carrying chamber (7) of the base (2). On the other hand, the switching element (35) is connected to a locking device, by means of which an insertion of the gas plug (57) dependent on the position of the switching element (35) can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 7438082
Abstract: The invention concerns a valve arrangement for external operation including: a feed opening, a delivery opening, a connecting passage which connects the feed opening to the delivery opening, a first valve which is adapted to enable the fluid connection through the connecting passage in a first functional position and to close same in a second functional position, and an actuating device for actuating the first valve. Valve arrangements of that kind suffer from the disadvantage that they are not suitable for frost-resistant operation as freezing water can damage parts of the valve arrangement. That disadvantage is overcome by the invention insofar as there is provided a second valve which is closed in the first and second functional position and which co-operates with a drain opening which is so connected to the connecting passage that in a third functional position in which the first valve is closed and the second valve is opened the liquid in the connecting passage can flow away through the drain opening.

The connector is a tubular housing having a through hole extending from one end to the other. An inner wall of the housing contacts side surfaces of the male outlet and inlet in a sealing manner. The connector also has, in a middle region, transverse sealing surfaces that contact the end faces of the male outlet and inlet.
