Abstract: A pyrotechnic-actuated valve assembly may include an insert body having an inlet, an outlet, and a flow path extending from the inlet to the outlet. The insert body is formed of a first alloy. A shear structure is bonded to the outlet of the insert body so as to close the flow path. The shear structure is formed of a second alloy. The second alloy of the shear structure is bonded to the first alloy of the insert body so as to form a hermetic seal. The dual-alloy nature of the valve assembly allows a relatively clean shearing of the shear structure during actuation, thus reducing or preventing the occurrence of deformation and/or material fragments in the flow path.

The apparatus may also include a core located between the armatures and a casing about the coil. The core and casing act to guide the magnetic field, reducing the power requirements for creating the field. Current may be periodically reversed in the coil to provide a degaussing field. In addition, a signal may be produced by the coil in the presence an externally applied magnetic field such as an MRI. An opposing magnetic field may be produced by the coil or the current provided to the coil may be adjusted.

Abstract: A freezeless wall hydrant has a fluid inlet end connected to a source of pressurized water, and a fluid outlet end. A check valve is placed in the bore of the valve body and is spring loaded to open only when extreme water pressure within the inlet valve lifts a spring loaded piston element to permit the highly pressurized water to move through the bore in the valve body and be relieved as it escapes rearwardly into the original source of pressurized water.

  • Patent number: 6797156
Abstract: A water treatment unit is disclosed which can be mounted directly on the faucet or tap of the user's sink and which contains one or more water treatment media and an operating valve which permits the selection of several operating modes including service, spray and stream modes. In the service mode the water is treated by at least one if not all of the various water treatment media contained in the unit housing after which the water is discharged from the valve of the unit for service use, and the service discharge may be adjusted to direct the treated water as desired by the user. The valve of the treatment unit includes a housing, a stationary member, a slide member and a rotatable switch member unit and may also be operated in a backflush mode in which water may be directed in the reverse direction through at least one of the water treatment media to regenerate that media.

  • Patent number: 6769446
Abstract: A freezeless wall hydrant has a normally horizontal fluid inlet tube with an interior end and exterior end. A hollow valve fitting is rigidly secured to the interior end of the inlet tube for a connection to a source of pressurized fluid. A valve seat is located on an interior end of the valve fitting. An elongated hollow tube of a diameter less than the interior diameter of the inlet tube is positioned on the center line of the inlet tube and has inner and outer ends. A plug is rigidly secured to the inner end of the tube to close the inner end for fluid flow. A normally closed check valve is movably mounted in the tube to engage a valve seat on the plug, to open the tube for fluid therein under conditions of high fluid pressure in the inlet tube.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a dose control apparatus. The apparatus has two armatures pressed against a valve seat by at least one spring. A coil induces a magnetic field that motivates the armatures against the force of the spring, thereby opening the valve. The armatures may move along a common axis in opposite directions. The apparatus may also include a core located between the armatures and a casing about the coil. • Patent number: 6708716
Abstract: A valve assembly includes a valve body having a passageway and first and second oppositely facing valve seats that extend around the passageway. First and second valve elements are positioned in the passageway to seal against the respective valve seats, and a spring biases the first valve element to the closed position against the first valve seat. The valve seats are spaced sufficiently closely together along the passageway that the first valve element, when positioned against the first valve seat, holds the second valve element away from the second valve seat. For this reason, the spring also biases the second valve element away from the second valve seat.

Abstract: A unidirectional-retroaction electromagnetic valve comprises a valve body, O-ring, manual opening unit, and electrically controlled blocking unit. The valve body is connected to a gas source directly and the electrically controlled blocking unit is used to stop gas in a dangerous situation. Two actions are required to open the electromagnetic valve when the dangerous situation no longer exists. First, push the manual opening unit to move the valve plate of the electromagnetic valve forward a certain distance, then the electrically controlled blocking unit moves the valve plate further according to a danger removal signal provided by a judgment device. The electromagnetic valve is not opened completely until these two movements are operated, thereby, it can prevent the blocked valve from opening intentionally during an unsafe situation.

Abstract: A process control valve is disclosed including a valve body assembly which includes process fluid input and output ports, an actuation pressure port and a vent port. The valve body includes a cylinder with two pistons longitudinally spaced and separated by a biasing means such as a spring. The pistons each have a rod which acts as a seal for a process fluid port when normally biased by the biasing spring. The actuation port of the body assembly communicates with the opposite faces of the pistons from the bias spring to open the process fluid input and output ports by overcoming the biasing port closing force. The two pistons include rods having process fluid passageways therethrough. The pistons also include a valve poppet & seat combination which is closed whenever actuation force is applied to the process control valve sealing the process fluid path from the vent port. A reversible input/output valve is disclosed as well as a modular assembly of interchangeable valves is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6173735
Abstract: A pilot-operated, pressure-loaded, movable diaphragm-type gas-flow regulator valve is shown which is used in flow control applications. A regulator body internal port arrangement interconnects two independent throttling mechanisms in series. Two throttle plates are located within the regulator valve body relative to an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber. A movable diaphragm is positioned relative to a throttle plate by a separate pilot control system to vary the area of throttle plate exposed to flow, and thus, the flow rate of the regulator valve. The throttle plates each have drilled flow apertures which control flow through the valve. Smaller flow apertures are opened before larger flow apertures as the valve diaphragm lifts, thereby ensuring stability at low-flow conditions, while providing high capacity at maximum diaphragm lift.
