The flow channel securing groove has a long hole shape in which a width in a first direction being a moving direction of the valve element, is smaller than a width in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. Thus, a region overlapping with the outlet is large as compared to a case where a perfect circular flow channel securing groove is formed.

    Abstract: Rotary valves are adapted to replace traditional slide valves in fluid catalytic cracking units (FCCUs) such as regenerated catalyst valves, spent catalyst valves, cooled catalyst valves, and recirculation catalyst valves. The rotary valves as discussed herein are significantly more compact than a slide valve having a similar flow capacity. The rotary valve is better adapted to provide flow control or throttling than slide valves are. Flow control or throttling occurs with greater response and precision in response to control inputs and rotation. In addition to the size reduction achieved with the rotary valve, the required controls and/or hydraulic fluid necessary to achieve flow changes are significantly reduced, further saving costs for the valve, as hydraulic power units are not required. The omission of a hydraulic power unit also reduces the size of the valve and/or its accompanying structures within the FCCU.

    Abstract: In a first embodiment, the present invention is a valve insertable into a sewage line in order to prevent backflow into a structure. The valve includes a mouth formed therein which corresponds to the size of an inlet of the sewage line and means for rotating for rotating the valve within the sewage line. Rotation of the valve to an open position aligns the mouth with the inlet of the sewage line to permit flow through the sewage line and rotation of the valve body to a closed position rotates the mouth away from the inlet of the sewage line to prevent flow through the sewage line. In a second embodiment, the present invention further includes a conduit adapter that replaces a converging section of the sewage line in order to retrofit the valve into a sewage line where the valve would otherwise not fit therein. Additionally, in either the first or second embodiment, the present invention provides for the simultaneous purging of the sewage line by attaching means for purging to the valve.

A pressure differential across the casing is measured via side passages extending laterally from each fluid chamber. For a given fluid, a given casing diameter and a given sphere diameter, this pressure differential can be converted to a fluid flow rate.
