Abstract: A seat plate which maintains constant contact and load against the gate to keep sealing surfaces protected is disclosed. The seat plate has a dynamic seat function ie live-loaded to follow the gate surface during stroking and high temperature changes. The valve maintains a positive barrier between body steam chamber and process fluid through port. The valve uses an extended seat plates to maintain constant contact with gate in all positions such that all process is captured and not allowed to enter body chamber. The seat plate allows for sufficient axial seat travel upstream and downstream to balance sealing load on both sides of gate. In addition, an axial hard stop on each seat allowing upstream seat to maintain sealing contact with gate.

The valve body includes a first disc-shaped valve body portion to be pressed against a flange portion of a valve seat and a second disc-shaped valve body portion which is screwed on an end surface of the first valve body portion and adjusted its alignment. The second valve body portion is inserted into a valve hole of the valve seat. The first valve body portion has a circular groove at one of its surfaces to be brought into contact with the flange portion and an O-ring in the groove so as to choke fluid flow when in contact with the valve seat. The second valve body portion has tapered notches of which depths are gradually decreased from downstream to upstream.

Abstract: A seismically triggered valve is designed to shut off gas supply during an earthquake. A valve member is pivoted within a valve body, the valve member being mechanically movable to the open position. A magnet is fixed to the valve member, and a ferromagnetic ball is free on a concave surface. The center of the concave surface is aligned with the magnet; but, when the valve is shaken, the ball moves and releases the magnet. The valve member moves by gravity, but is assisted by a spring bias towards the closed position. A control rod can engage the valve member to open the valve, and can mechanically close the valve if desired. Further, a bleed passage connecting the valve body with the outlet is controlled by the control rod selectively to bleed off pressure within the valve body. The valve body is formed integrally. with an open top, and the sensor is received within the open top to close the top and properly locate the sensor.

Abstract: Pressure can build up on one side of a valve bore sealing mechanism when it is closed. This can make the mechanism difficult to open. A bore network is provided which extends through the valve housing side wall from the inlet end of the valve bore to its outlet end. The network bypasses the sealing mechanism and its sealing areas. Needle valves, operative from outside the valve, are used to open or close the network. The network can be temporarily opened to enable pressure to equalize across the closed sealing mechanism, thereby freeing the mechanism so that it can be turned.

Abstract: An overfill prevention device for storage tanks includes an elongate tubular housing having a liquid flow passageway. A normally open main valve and a normally closed vapor retaining bleed valve are associated with the fluid passageway. Closure of the main valve interrupts the primary flow of liquid through the passageway and closure of the bleed valve prevents any further liquid from entering the tank and also prevents the escape of vapors from the tank. Operation of the main valve is controlled in significant part by a valve latch assembly which is carried by the housing and a relatch assembly which is carried by the main valve. The relatch assembly ensures operative engagement of the main valve with the valve latch assembly upon movement of the main valve from the intermediate position to the open position. Operation of the main valve and vapor retaining bleed valve is also controlled indirectly by a plurality of floats which are maintained in a float chamber extending adjacent the liquid passageway.

Abstract: To evacuate a vacuum chamber without stirring up particles in the chamber or associated piping, a pneumatically-actuated vacuum valve is used between the chamber and the vacuum pump. The valve controls evacuation in two stages: in the first stage, the valve partially opens, and a skirt with leak vents in it is brought into play so that air is drawn slowly through the leak vents to gradually achieve a vacuum of a few Torr without stirring up particles; in the second stage, the valve fully opens, and the remaining air in the chamber can be drawn out efficiently, utilizing the large diameter of the valve fully, without risk of stirring up particles. The actuation of the valve is controlled by a timer, which dictates how long the valve stays in the partially-open state before switching to the fully-open state.
