  • Patent number: 11866925
Abstract: An extendable drain configured to move between a retracted position and an extended position includes a housing and a drain member. The housing includes a top, a bottom, and a sidewall including an annular stretchable sleeve. The housing defines an interior volume configured to be at least partially filled by a fluid causing the annular sleeve to stretch axially, thereby increasing a distance between the top of the housing and the bottom of the housing. The drain member includes an open top fixed to the top of the housing, an open bottom, and a sidewall extending between the top and the bottom of the drain member through the interior volume of the housing. At least partially filling the interior volume of the housing moves the drain member axially causing the sleeve to stretch, thereby increasing the distance between the top of the housing and the bottom of the housing.

  • Patent number: 10427856
Abstract: A method for creating a vacuum in a storage bag can be used to create a vacuum without the use of an external vacuum source. The vacuum storage bag has a resilient sponge compressible polymeric material mass such as a sheet of sufficient thickness that is an integral part of an internal wall of a storage bag. A vacuum can be produced by compressing the sponge within this sealable bag. When the sponge is an integral part of the internal bag wall, it will not shift nor interfere with a valve or bag closure. A vacuum may be created by compressing the resilient sponge material along with a food product, dry goods, or any other material that is to be stored. This results in forcing the air volume out of the sealable bag. Any residual air not exhausted from bag will be trapped within sponge material when sponge expands.

  • Patent number: 9629954
Abstract: A tube passage sealing system for allowing passage of a tube from the interior to the exterior of a case such that the case is sealed against fluid intrusion whether a tube is present or absent. The tube passage sealing system generally includes a case having a first portion and a hingedly connected second portion. The portions may be closed together to define a compartment in which a device may be positioned. A tube seal assembly is included which allows a tube leading from the device within the compartment to exit the case through a passage formed in the assembly. The tube seal assembly generally includes a first tube seal and second tube seal which combine when the case is closed to seal around the tube. Some embodiments may include blocking portions on the tube seals which will act to seal the passage when a tube is not present.

  • Patent number: 9609969
Abstract: An elastomeric valve includes a barrel having one or more walls defining an interior fluid pathway. The barrel is deformable between a non-deformed state and a deformed state. The elastomeric valve further includes a gate assembly of two or more gate elements forming a tapering volume projecting into the fluid pathway from the one or more walls of the barrel. In at least some examples, each gate element joins the barrel at a reduced cross-section that forms a hinge of that gate element. The two or more gate elements interface with each other along one or more gate boundaries to collectively block the fluid pathway in the non-deformed state and separate from each other along the one or more gate boundaries in the deformed state to permit fluid flow through the gate assembly.

  • Patent number: 8978693
Abstract: Disclosed is an inflation valve enabling a user to quickly inflate and deflate an inflatable object. The inflation valve can include an inflation chamber that is an adequate size to capture a breath of air blown by a user from a distance away from an outside opening of the inflation chamber. This allows surrounding air into the area of low pressure created by the moving air, thereby greatly increasing the amount of air entering the inflatable object. To prevent air from escaping the inflatable object, the inflation valve can include a non-invertible one-way valve and/or an invertible one-way valve. Each valve can prevent air from escaping the inflation chamber until adequate pressure is applied from the outside opening of the inflation chamber, for example, as a result of a user blowing air into the inflation chamber. The invertible one-way valve can be inverted to reverse the properties of the valve.
