Publication number: 20090218037Abstract: The invention relates to piping comprising a portion wherein the centreline of the portion follows a substantially helical path, wherein the amplitude of the helix is less than or equal to one half of the internal diameter of the piping. When fluid flows in such piping, it is made to swirl. This provides a number of advantages, such as improved in-plane mixing of the fluid, enhanced uniformity of residence time, and so on. The invention also extends to various methods of making such piping.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2009Publication date: September 3, 2009Inventors: Colin G. Caro, Nicholas V. Watkins

Patent number: 7574778Abstract: Compositions and methods keep cords, such as electrical connectors for computers and home entertainment systems, tidy and organized with clasp members that run at least partly along the exterior cord surface. Cords may be optionally coupled to other cords in a concatenated arrangement, for example, and cords may be coupled to one or more objects such as a desk or a cabinet. A cord coupled to another cord or to an object may be optionally decoupled from the other cord or from the object.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2006Date of Patent: August 18, 2009Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventor: Nikhil Marathe

Patent number: 7559355Abstract: The present invention relates to a heat exchanger tube, in which turbulence generating portions placed within a passage of the tube are rounded into curved configurations with predetermined curvatures so that they are hardly damaged or fractured during extrusion to improve machinability and product quality, in which upper and lower circular passages formed in upper and lower sides of a tube body are connected via a connecting passage having the turbulence generating portions so that more passages having a smaller hydraulic diameter can be formed in the tube of the same size without unnecessary waste of tube material, and in which the turbulence generating portions are arranged in a lateral direction (Z-axial direction) of the tube body so that the passage is not filled with condensate films even though a large quantity of condensate is produced to reduce the thickness of the condensate films or break the condensate films to promote refrigerant to be converted into turbulent flow, thereby improving heat transfType: GrantFiled: June 21, 2004Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Halla Climate Control CorporationInventor: Kwangheon Oh

Publication number: 20090120522Abstract: An inlet tube within a gas turbine engine which includes a primary fuel channel and a secondary fuel channel formed in a cylindrical tube body. The secondary channel has a substantially crescent shaped cross-sectional area which is complementary in shape to the primary fuel channel, such as to maximize the combined fuel flow area through the primary and secondary fuel channels relative to an outer diameter of the cylindrical tube body.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2007Publication date: May 14, 2009Inventors: Reza Ziaei, Eduardo Hawie

Publication number: 20080264508Abstract: A flexible hose construction adapted for separately conveying two or more fluids therethrough. The construction includes a core tube, a second tube helically disposed about the core tube, and a tubular jacket surrounding the core tube. The second tube may be substantially concentric with the core tube. The tubular jacket may be substantially cylindrical so as to have a substantially smooth outer surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2007Publication date: October 30, 2008Inventors: Wallace Adamson, Kelley J. Patent number: 7422035Abstract: A flat pipe with variable flow capacity comprises a main body shaped as a flat tube wherein opposing ridges are installed at the inner upper and lower positions of the main body, and thin-film spacers are installed between said pairs of ridges, forming multiple passages in the main body. Due to the flexibility of the thin-film spacers, the passages of the main body may stretch to a larger diameter to adjust to increased flow. If the flow is significantly enlarged, the main body will flex at the ridges causing the thin-film spacers to separate which in turn opens flow to the main body, essentially creating one main passage with a large diameter. When flow is stopped or decreased, the main body will restore elastically and resume shape as a flat pipe. According to the above, the present invention discloses a pipe which is easily stored and prevents twisting which could result in deformation, breakage and flow interference.Type: GrantFiled: April 19, 2007Date of Patent: September 9, 2008Assignee: B.H.
