Patent number: 4934415Abstract: A tubular cop exchange arrangement comprises a cop magazine, a cop pressing device for pressing a cop from the magazine into a trough chamber of a shuttle, a cutting device for separating a weft thread from the ejected remaining portion of the cop and a control device. The shuttle has a clamping device provided near one end of a trough chamber for fixing the holding pin of a tubular cop, the shuttle having a thread brake and a thread inserting slot extending from another end of the trough chamber substantially rectilinearly. The cop ejecting device has a cop ejecting plunger which is upwardly extendable in a shuttle cop exchange position in a direction toward the holding pin clamped in the clamping device. The cop pressing device has a cop pressing plunger which is extendable in the cop exchange position downwardly against a cop located in the cop outlet opening of the cop magazine.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1988Date of Patent: June 19, 1990Assignee: Jurgens Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. Patent number: 4441529Abstract: An encapsulated shuttle grip (B) is disclosed as including a molded housing (28) which co-operates with a shelf cut (C, C') in shuttle block (A) to interlock the shuttle grip positively and firmly in place. Compressible protrusions (58) carried on molded side wall ribs (54, 56) are compressed in lateral side cut grooves (66, 68) to resist rotation of gripping jaws (14, 16) about the axis of attachment bolt 38 during weaving and bobbin transfer along with other molded structural features of the molded housing 28.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1982Date of Patent: April 10, 1984Assignee: Steel Heddle Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Charles F. Patent number: 4298032Abstract: An encapsulated shuttle grip for use in shuttles for holding bobbins in a properly aligned position during weaving. The grip includes a pair of opposed leaves which have opposed gripping jaws for receiving a butt end of a bobbin. Inner shank portions of the leaves are imbedded in a molded housing with the gripping jaws extending outwardly from the housing. The molded housing extends around the remote sides of the inner shank portions and in the space provided between the shank portions positively positioning the gripping jaws for receiving the butt end of the bobbin.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1978Date of Patent: November 3, 1981Assignee: Steel Heddle Manufacturing Co.Inventors: Frank H. Kaufmann, Charles F. Kramer

Patent number: 4059132Abstract: An automatic weaving shuttle is provided with a recess for receiving a bobbin having cylindrical bobbin heads. To retain the bobbin head an insert is held in force engagement within said recess, said insert being formed in a substantially U-shaped configuration with two legs conjoined by a cross-piece. Within the legs are formed pairs of sliding guides disposed respectively on each side of the longitudinal central plane of the bobbin. Spring loaded dogs are slidable within said guides and engage the cylindrical surface of the bobbin head. The bobbin is centralized by a spigot engaging within a correspondingly shaped recess in the end of the bobbin head.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1976Date of Patent: November 22, 1977Assignee: Leder & Co., AGInventors: Theodor Kenk, Erhard Kenk

Patent number: 4003410Abstract: A stabilizer for the spring fixed in a shuttle having opposed laterally flexible spring steel jaws for releasably holding a weft bobbin within the shuttle. The stabilizer is supported by the shuttle spring in operative association with the jaws thereof and serves to control the amount of lateral flexing movement of the latter during removal of a spent bobbin from and the transfer of a new bobbin into a shuttle.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 1976Date of Patent: January 18, 1977Assignee: Rockwell International CorporationInventor: Harrison N. Patent number: 3996970Abstract: An elastic shuttle having an elongated shuttle body which has an opening to receive a filling thread bobbin, a longitudinally extending thread groove on one outer side and a recess for the introduction of thread cutters, clamping jaws arranged on the inner sides of the opening in order to hold fast the bobbin body of a filling thread bobbin, and a parting slot or line extending from one end of the opening and which makes possible a spreading apart of the clamping jaws upon change of the bobbin.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1975Date of Patent: December 14, 1976Assignee: Ruti Machinery Works Ltd.Inventor: Franz Meier

Patent number: 3965941Abstract: This invention relates generally to a shuttle spring for holding a yarn filled bobbin in a loom shuttle wherein the spring has a pair of opposed jaw portions for resiliently holding the bobbin therebetween. A vertical side surface of one of the jaw portions has a greater vertical width than the vertical side surface of the opposing jaw portion to effect rotation of the bobbin, when being ejected from the shuttle by the insertion of a full bobbin, in a direction so as to ensure that an adequate transfer tail of unused yarn separates from the spent bobbin. The transfer tail of yarn trailing from the bobbin is then caught by a stripping machine which completely strips the bobbin of the unused yarn.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1975Date of Patent: June 29, 1976Inventors: Ralph M. Compton, Johnny W. Jenkins, Jr.
