Abstract: A leno cloth is prepared, which comprises at least ground warp threads 1, leno warp threads 3 and weft threads 2, and in which the weft threads 2 and the ground warp threads 1 are arranged essentially interspace free. The weft threads are bound-off by means of the leno warp threads 3, which comprise a clearly lower titer relative to the ground warp threads 1, with such a lower tension relative to the ground warp threads, so that the crossings of the leno warp threads 3 with the ground warp threads 1 that are present due to the binding are arranged in a plane parallel to the plane of the maximum thickness of the weft threads. The leno warp threads 3 comprise a higher working-in or take-up into the woven cloth than the ground warp threads 1. According to a further aspect of the invention, a method for the production of a leno cloth as well as a loom for the carrying out of the method for the production of a leno cloth are described.
Abstract: A method for monitoring the transport of a thread in a weaving machine is presented in which the thread includes thread sections (21, 21.i) which are transported with an associated speed (vi). In this method, values (24) of at least one kinematic measurement parameter of at least one thread section (21, 21.i) are measured and, based on the measured values (24), approximation values (25) of the tensile force which acts on at least one thread section (21, 21.i) are calculated by means of a computation model (2). The computed approximation values (25) are displayed for monitoring purposes.
Abstract: A weft holder device holds the free weft thread ends in an air jet loom, using pressurized air and without requiring a suction device. The body of the device has a tapering opening through which the end of the inserted weft thread extends. The opening tapers into a narrower slot in the beat-up and drawing-off direction. An air flow channel communicates downwardly from the slot. Nozzles blow pressurized air downwardly through the slot and into the channel, to pneumatically push the weft thread ends into the channel, so as to hold the weft thread ends from when they are beat-up and bound into the woven cloth and a catch selvage, until the catch selvage is trimmed from the cloth. The weft holder device may be stationarily mounted at a location between a weft detector and a weft tensioner that are connected to the reed so as to move therewith.
Abstract: A weft thread tension control device for use in bobbin carrying shuttles. These shuttles include a bobbin compartment which supports a weft thread carrying bobbin, a weft thread tensioning apparatus which tensions the weft thread during its passage out of the shuttle and shuttle eyes which guide the weft thread from said shuttle. The tension control device comprises a tension actuated apparatus which is operative to sever the weft thread along its path of movement from the bobbin through the shuttle eyes upon the development of excessive tension therein.
