Patent number: 11053034Abstract: Strapping tensioning tools are disclosed herein. The disclosed strapping tensioning tools reduce the forces that are required to be applied by an actuator (i.e., a motor) to release the tools from tensioned straps without damaging the straps. According to one aspect of the invention, the forces are reduced by the relative positioning, from front to back, of the cutter, the gripper and the windlass. According to a second aspect of the invention, the forces are reduced by reducing the angle formed between the gripper and the base of the tool. Namely, in one embodiment, the angle of the gripper relative to the strapping surface of the base is approximately 45-55 degrees.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2019Date of Patent: July 6, 2021Assignee: Golden Bear LLCInventors: Joshua Robert Sikora, Pavlo Vsevirovich Barlasov

Patent number: 8316895Abstract: A tool for installing a metal locking tie is disclosed. The tool includes a tension mechanism and a ball set and cut-off mechanism. The tension mechanism tensions the metal locking tie wrapped around a bundle. The ball set and cut-off mechanism includes a guide block and a shear block that engages the guide block. Once the tool tensions the metal locking tie, a ball set and cut-off handle is manually activated to push the guide block and the shear block forward in the tool thereby setting a ball in a metal locking tie head and shearing a portion of the tensioned metal locking tie.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2008Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Assignee: Panduit Corp.Inventors: Lawrence A Hillegonds, Samuel M Marrs

Publication number: 20120279018Abstract: The present invention is directed to a metal locking tie and a metal locking tie tool. The metal locking tie has a tie body, a tie head secured to the tie body, and a roller means disposed in the tie head. The tie head has a bottom, a ceiling, opposing sides, a strap entrance end and a strap exit end that define a strap receiving passageway therethrough. The tie head also includes an angled tool bearing surface at the strap exit end. The metal locking tie tool includes a cutter cap with a cutter and a ball setter. Once the metal locking tie tool has tensioned the metal locking tie, the cutter moves linearly with respect to the cutter cap to set the roller means in the tie head and to provide a flush cut off of the excess tie body from the metal locking tie.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 3, 2012Publication date: November 8, 2012Applicant: PANDUIT CORP.Inventors: Earl J. Patent number: 8127803Abstract: A reinforcing bar binding machine is provided with: a guide tube for guiding a wire from a wire reel mounted on a binding machine body; a curl guide; a wire cutting mechanism disposed between the guide tube and the curl guide; a first guide pin that is disposed at an end portion of the guide tube or in a vicinity of the end portion of the guide tube, and guides an outer side surface which is an outer side of a wire curve; a second guide pin that is disposed at the end portion of the guide tube or in a vicinity of the end portion of the guide tube, and guides an inner side surface which is an inner side of the wire curve; and a third guide pin that is disposed inside of the curl guide and guides the outer side surface. The wire is brought into contact with the first guide pin, the second guide pin, and the third guide pin, when the wire is fed around a reinforcing bar.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 2009Date of Patent: March 6, 2012Assignee: Max Co., Ltd.Inventor: Ichiro Kusakari

Patent number: 8051881Abstract: A tool that installs a metal tie is disclosed. The tool includes a tension mechanism and a tension control system. The tension mechanism tensions the metal tie wrapped around a bundle. The tension control system measures the applied tie tension. The tension control system includes a load cell and a worm cushion that dampens the tension applied to the load cell. The tension mechanism includes a gear train with a worm gear and a worm that distribute the applied tension to the load cell. Once the desired tension has been achieved, the tension mechanism is de-energized and a ball set and cut-off mechanism is activated to set the ball in the metal tie head and to shear a portion of the tensioned metal tie.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2008Date of Patent: November 8, 2011Assignee: Panduit Corp.Inventor: Roger D Segroves

Patent number: 7748415Abstract: A tightening apparatus for strapping an object with a plastic band includes a stationary cutter with a cutting slot, a pivoting cutter mounted inside the stationary cutter, and a resilient element. The resilient element is situated so as to push a cutting edge of the pivoting cutter away from a cutting edge of the stationary cutter when a cutting operation is not being performed. When a band is present between the pivoting and stationary cutters and the cutting operation is actuated, a pivoting force caused by an applied cutting force moves the pivoting cutter against the resilient element and engages the cutting edges of both cutters so as to cut the band. The fact that the cutting edges are engaged only when a band is inserted between the cutters greatly improves the life of the device.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2007Date of Patent: July 6, 2010Assignee: Teknika, Inc.Inventors: Pavlo Barlosov, Volodymyr Domin
