Patent number: 7493924Abstract: An apparatus for processing chain link fabric including a welding assembly and/or a compressing assembly. The welding assembly is configured to weld together wire-end portions of the chain link fabric. The welding assembly includes a guiding assembly having a finger and a cam, which are configured to restrict the movement of the wire-end portions while the welding assembly welds them together. The finger and the cam are configured to move relative to the wire-end portions both before and after the wire-end portions are welded together. The compressing assembly is configured to compress the wire-end portions after they are welded together. The compressing assembly includes a stabilizing assembly having a stabilizing die, which is configured to interface with the chain link fabric and to restrict the movement of the welded wire-end portions while the compressing assembly compresses the welded wire-end portions.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2005Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Bergandi Machinery CompanyInventors: Jose G. Patent number: 6823901Abstract: Chain link material for use in fences and other various applications are formed with flattened end portions so as to improve the handling and safety characteristics thereof. The flattened end portions of the chain link fence are formed by bending, trimming, welding together and then painting cut ends of the wire forming the chain link material. This bending, trimming, welding and painting is performed in a series of assemblies held on one or both sides of a chain link material being indexed through a weaving machine. The series of assemblies are moveable into and out of contact with the cut ends of the wires in the chain link material so as to bend, trim, weld together and paint the welded together ends.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2002Date of Patent: November 30, 2004Assignee: BMCI, Inc.Inventor: Jose G. Garcia

Patent number: 5908052Abstract: Chain link material having a coating thereon for use in fences and other various applications are formed with knuckled ends so as to improve the appearance thereof. The knuckled ends of the coated chain link fence are formed by knuckler assemblies held on either side of the coated chain link material as it moves through a weaving machine. The knuckling assemblies are moveable into and out of contact with the cut ends of coated wires woven into the chain link material, and include rotatable bend elements which contact an extended length of and bend the cut ends without cutting, marring or scraping the coating.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1997Date of Patent: June 1, 1999Assignee: BMCI, Inc.Inventor: Jose G Garcia

Patent number: 5785097Abstract: Chain link material for use in fences and other various applications are formed with flattened end portions so as to improve the handling and safety characteristics thereof. The flattened end portions of the chain link fence are formed by trimming, bending and then securing together cut ends of the wire forming the chain link material. This trimming, bending and securing is preferably performed in end flattening assemblies held on either side of a chain link material weaving machine, which assemblies are moveable into and out of contact with the cut ends of the wires in the chain link material so as to trim, bend and then secure the bent ends together by twisting, welding or clipping the same together.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1997Date of Patent: July 28, 1998Assignee: BMCI, Inc.Inventor: Jose G. Patent number: 4223705Abstract: A machine operable to twist the end portion of a cross wire around a longitudinal wire disposed at right angles to the cross wire, and then to twist the cross wire end portion about the standing portion of the cross wire, to form a "knot". The machine consists of a knotter die rotatable about the axis of the longitudinal wire to form the first twist, and to force the end portion of the cross wire operatively against an anvil configurated to form the second twist so that both twists are formed in a single operation, although the two twists lie in substantially right angled planes. This substantially doubles the speed at which the knots may be formed in automatic machinery. As optional equipment, other dies may be added for pressing the wire bend formed in the second twist, and the raw end of the cross wire, closely adjacent the longitudinal wire, so that the raw wire ends are shielded.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1979Date of Patent: September 23, 1980Assignee: Flex-O-Lators Inc.Inventors: George E. Patent number: 4077440Abstract: A reinforcement element intended for essentially U-shaped elongate building blocks manufactured by using the sliding form casting technique. The reinforcment element consists of a plurality of first pretensioned equidistantly spaced steel wires deposited in the longitudinal direction of the block, above or below which wires is positioned, in parallel therewith, a wire net composed of two longitudinal wires and a plurality of equidistantly spaced transverse cross rods the ends of which are bent about the longitudinal wires. The invention likewise concerns a method and a machine to produce such reinforcement elements.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1975Date of Patent: March 7, 1978Assignee: Nilcon Engineering ABInventor: Thony Gote Lidstrom
