Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing a stent having a superior bending characteristic, in which a basic jig is employed to weave wires by alternating an obtuse angle and an acute angle so as to repetitively form starry cells in left and right portions and upper and lower portions of the stent, and in which the wires intersecting each other in the starry cells are allowed to freely move to provide the superior bending characteristic caused by flexibility in both the diametrical direction and lengthwise direction thereof, and the stent manufactured thereby. Thus, the stent can have a flexible bending characteristic and is prevented from being folded even when sharply bent after being coated.

  • Patent number: 7594523
Abstract: The invention relates to a machine for the production of a continuous strip of wire mesh (100) using a single flexible metal wire (20) which is fed to the machine continuously. According to the invention, the mesh (100) is formed by repeating the same pattern with the metal wire in one plane, each pattern being stacked on the preceding pattern with a constant pitch offset in the axial direction of production. The inventive machine comprises: a metal wire storage stage; a stage for continuously supplying metal wire to the machine; a forming stage for shaping the wire into a succession of identical patterns; a transfer stage for successively moving said metal wire patterns to the mesh-forming plane; a stage for maintaining each pattern in one plane and for offsetting same by a constant pitch with the arrival of the following pattern; and a stage for fixing the patterns to one another. The invention also relates to the strip of mesh (100) thus formed and to the production method thereof.

  • Patent number: 5527590
Abstract: Disclosed is a structural material having a wire lattice configuration. The structural material can manufactured by first weaving a continuous wire filament on a loom assembly. Once woven into arrays of parallel wires, the filament is fixed in position and cut into segments. The segments are then placed in a rig. The rig positions the segments at relative angles so as to form a matrix or mesh. In the final step of the manufacturing process, the wires are welded together using, for example, a forge press. Alternatively, the material can be formed by first holding wire segments in a pair of rigs and then sequentially welding the wire segments together. The structural material of the invention can be used alone or layered to form a multilaminate material.
