Patent number: 7712490Abstract: Methods and apparatus prevent breakage of a catalyst particle and evenly fill the catalyst into tubes to an optimum density. A loading tool comprises a plurality of damper members extending from a centerline of the tube in at least one radial direction but in every case, having a diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the tube. For example, in one embodiment the damper members are shaped in a “Z”-like formation with each having a different rotational orientation than the adjacent one above or below it. The Z formations can be horizontally arranged along a central member or can be formed vertically in a unitary fashion from a single, stiffened member. In another embodiment, the dampers are formed into spiral or helical shapes that increase or decrease in diameter along the length of the tube.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2006Date of Patent: May 11, 2010Assignee: Clean Harbors Catalyst Technologies, LLCInventor: Stephen Brennom

Patent number: 6662828Abstract: A telescoping filling head comprising a driving portion, a nozzle block portion and a two-stage telescoping nozzle, the innermost portion of the nozzle having positionable apertures. A telescoping filling head can be retrofitted on an existing filling device, or can be incorporated in a newly manufactured filling device. The telescoping action permits a longer nozzle to be used in any given space, because the two portions which extend to create a relatively long filling nozzle retract within a relatively short outer nozzle. The longer nozzle increases the rate at which foaming liquids can be introduced into a container. The positionable apertures can also direct the flow of the liquid at the shoulders of the bottle, further increasing the rate at which foaming liquids can be introduced into a container.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2002Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Inventors: Clifford W. Patent number: 6591875Abstract: A cart for filling intermodal shipping containers with a bulk particulate material, such as grain, includes a hopper to receive the bulk material and a belt conveyor to deliver the material to the container. The conveyor is positioned external of the container and throws the material along an arcuate path to the opposite end of the container whereby the container is substantially filled without the need to extend the conveyor into the container. The cart is supported on wheels to be moved where needed. The cart can straddle a standard truck trailer carrying a container so that the container need not be removed from the trailer for filling. The conveyor height is variable to reach a container on a truck trailer or on the ground. The cart width can also be reduced for road transport.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2001Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Richard D. Zaun, Richard W. Hook, Bruce L. Patent number: 6575207Abstract: An opening apparatus that opens continuously conveyed bags with a gas supplied by nozzles. A plurality of nozzles having conical head sections and discharge openings at the tip ends are attached to a rotation transmitting member with equal spaces in between, and this rotation transmitting member is caused to revolve at a constant speed while maintaining a horizontal attitude by means of a parallel link mechanism. The nozzles revolve at a constant speed on a circular track in a vertical plane along the conveying direction of bags with the discharge openings consistently facing the bags. When the nozzles are at the lower point on the circular track, the head sections enter into the bags that are being conveyed at a constant speed, and a gas is caused to jet into the bags from the discharged openings, thus spread-opening the bags.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2002Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Toyo Jidoki Co., Ltd.Inventors: Iwao Ikemoto, Shoichi Koga

Patent number: 6550649Abstract: A counter balanced effluence transfer system for the transfer of effluence from a source container into a receiving reservoir comprises a receiving reservoir having a cover plate and a reservoir top opening, and a counter balanced mechanism located above the receiving reservoir, which includes a pivot point, a source-side member attached to one side of the pivot point and a balance-side member attached to the other side of the pivot point. While the size and weight of the source-side member are made the same as those of the balance-side member, an angular asymmetry is built in between the source arm and the balance arm so that the gravitational source torque Ts and the gravitational balance torque Tb are made unequal. Upon release of the counter balanced mechanism with a latching starting mechanism, the counter balanced mechanism would automatically rotate and complete the pouring of source effluence into the receiving reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2001Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Assignee: ChemFlow Systems, Inc.Inventors: Leon Han, Ted L. Patent number: 6508279Abstract: An automated pharmaceutical package machine fills a product package filling guide positioned above a solid pharmaceutical product package having a plurality of cavities corresponding to positions of the filling guide. The automatic filling machine includes a mechanism for vertically displacing the product package to be filled toward the filling guide. Various guide members or plates are utilized in order to pre-fill filling templates so that each of the cavities of a product package may be simultaneously filled.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2001Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: Medical Technology Systems, Inc.Inventors: Todd Siegel, Stuart Bagley

Patent number: 6367519Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided that allows two or more compositions to be filled with a spiral configuration into a single container. Each product may have completely different chemical and physical properties, and each product may have a different function and purpose. The method includes providing at least two compounds, arranged in separate storage bins each having a pump and a hose attached thereto; rotating a container, for receiving a resulting product formed by the at least two compounds, into position relative to a support and alignment funnel; pumping the at least two compounds through the respective hoses into a nozzle assembly having at least two nozzles for filling the container; and combining predetermined amounts of each of the at least two compounds for creating the resulting product housed in a single container, wherein the resulting product has the at least two compounds formed in a spiral configuration.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2000Date of Patent: April 9, 2002Inventors: Patrick Thibiant, Daniel Long, Steven R. Patent number: 6354345Abstract: To pump fluid into sample containers, a distributor arm of a sample collector is calibrated as to position in a computer memory and is moved from position to position over different containers while a counter in computer memory keeps track of its position. When the distributor arm is over the designated container, samples are pumped into the container. To pump the fluid into the container, the rollers of a peristaltic pump are supported to prevent the rollers from compressing the tube more than the thickness of the walls of the tube. A tube holder rotates along with the roller assembly of the peristaltic pump and keeps the tube in line with the rollers.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1999Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Assignee: Isco, Inc.Inventors: Frederick Alan Nabity, Robert Raymond Fiedler, James Paul Masek, Brian D.
