Patent number: 5095956Abstract: A fuel spillage control apparatus contains fuel from overfilling of a fuel tank and allows venting of volatile vapors. A fuel spill transfer pipe allows passage of fuel overflow into the fuel holding chamber. A fuel drain pipe communicates with the fuel spill transfer pipe in the fuel holding chamber and drains fluid of a predetermined level or greater out of the fuel holding chamber through the fuel spill transfer pipe. A fuel-buoyant drain pipe sealing means closes the fuel drain pipe when the fuel level in the fuel drain pipe reaches the fuel drain pipe inlet. An orifice in the bottom of the fuel holding chamber allows draining of liquids and solids heavier than fuel from the fuel holding chamber.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1991Date of Patent: March 17, 1992Inventor: Randolf W. Patent number: 4905871Abstract: When using containers of agricultural chemicals, such as herbicides, pesticides and the like, it is desirable to transfer the contents to the sprayer tank by pump means rather than physically lifting the container to the tank inlet and then pouring the contents manually into the tank. It is also essential to rinse out the container prior to disposing of same as most of the chemicals used are concentrated and can cause environmental damage if the majority of the contents are not removed prior to disposal. The present device allows the operator to transfer the chemical to the tank by means of a pump and then wash or rinse out the container with water which is then also transferred to the sprayer tank. A control valve portion connects to a concentric tube assembly which includes a container piercer on the lower end thereof.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1988Date of Patent: March 6, 1990Inventor: Donald F. This fleece provides a satisfactory separation of liquid and gas phases and thus a laminar liquefied gas flow and can assist in preventing freezing at the outlet due to moisture in the air. Advantageously a precise regulating valve which is sunk in the liquefied gas in the supply container provides continuous regulation of the liquefied gas flow.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1987Date of Patent: January 10, 1989Inventor: Franz Garnreiter

Patent number: 4770677Abstract: A vapor recovery system is provided for recovering fuel vapors discharged from a fuel tank having a vent tube and a separate filler neck during refueling. The vapor recovery system includes a partition dividing the filler neck into an outer chamber communicable with the atmosphere and an inner chamber in fluid communication with the fuel tank. The partition includes an aperture for sealingly admitting a fuel dispensing nozzle into the inner chamber without coupling the inner and outer chambers in fluid communication during refueling. A fuel cap may sealingly engage the filler neck to close the mouth of the filler neck. A refueling sensing system is provided for actuating a flow valve during an initial stage of each refueling activity to permit flow of fuel vapor to the canister. Upon removal of the fuel cap, fuel vapor discharged from the fuel tank is conducted automatically to the canister for processing therein instead of being discharged directly into the atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1986Date of Patent: September 13, 1988Assignee: Stant Inc.Inventor: Robert S. Patent number: 4766737Abstract: The device may be of the type having a horizontally open display section along the major portion of at least one side thereof which is maintained cool by a cool air flow stream passing downwardly through the display section, rearwardly of the section, and then upwardly and forwardly back to its point of origination to begin another cooling cycle. The air flow stream is maintained cool by a refrigeration system preferably having an upper condenser assembly and a lower evaporator assembly with an improved condensate dissipator assembly just beneath and in flow communication with the condenser assembly. This dissipator assembly may include a multiplicity of pans mounted spaced apart one beneath the other arranged for the condenser assembly warm air to pass therethrough above and beneath the pans with condensate from the evaporator assembly coil being directed into at least the uppermost of the pans.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1983Date of Patent: August 30, 1988Assignee: Displaymor Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Franklin Baxter, II

Patent number: 4759641Abstract: Valve bags having a vent for exit of air from the bag as it is filled, with a filter for the vent incorporated in the bag as part of the bag for preventing escape of product from the bag. In each of two types of bag disclosed, the filter is formed as a pocket for receiving a vacuum member for evacuating air from the bag through the filter. In one of these two types, the valve is at a corner at one end of the bag and the pocket is at the opposite corner at this end. In the other, the valve and pocket are at one and the same corner, the pocket being under the valve. In a third type of bag disclosed, the filter is part of a valve sleeve for the bag.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1982Date of Patent: July 26, 1988Assignee: Bemis Company, Inc.Inventor: Richard W. Patent number: 4754786Abstract: A disposable apparatus for sterilizing fluid and dispensing it includes a bag, a filter element, a conduit element, and a plurality of dispensing elements serially communicating with each other for providing a sterile fluid dispensing path that can be serially opened and closed. Methods are also provided for filling such apparatus in conjunction with a closed environment of an assembly having at least one mixing vessel, a reservoir container, a filling area, a filter element, and a plurality of storage elements interfacing the filling area.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 1986Date of Patent: July 5, 1988Inventor: Roderick Roberts

Patent number: 4749010Abstract: The invention relates to a tapping tube intended for the filling of container-like receptacles, such as bottles, with a liquid, said tapping tube preferably communicating with a metering pump, whereby the liquid in question is intended to flow through the tapping tube and to be interrupted during removal and replacement of the receptacles in question. An arrangement for a tapping tube of this kind is made available in which above all dribbling and dripping can be prevented, especially in conjunction with the removal and replacement of the receptacles. There is connected to the tapping tube (1) a suction channel (14) which discharges in the vicinity of its lower end and which is so arranged as to be actuated in such a way as to provide a suction effect at least for the duration of the aforementioned interruption in the flow of liquid through the tapping tube.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1986Date of Patent: June 7, 1988Inventor: Ralf Petell

Patent number: 4741369Abstract: In a fill tube of a vehicle fuel tank, an inlet forming device for receiving the nozzle of an associated fuel pump for filling the fuel tank and including an apertured seal member adapted to encircle the fuel nozzle to prevent fuel vapors from escaping therebetween. The device includes at least one vent opening which is normally blocked by an overlying edge portion of the seal member, but which is movable from its overlying position outward to vent fuel tank pressure. The overlying portion of the seal is normally biased to a closed position by the natural resiliency of an adjacent open celled foamed plastic material which also acts as a filter when the overlying edge portion of the seal is moved to a more open vent position.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1987Date of Patent: May 3, 1988Assignee: Chrysler Motors CorporationInventor: Gary D.
