  • Patent number: 10329052
Abstract: A protective cover that closely overlies an exterior surface of an upstanding container for holding liquid has integrally formed portions that are separately removable from the container. Each of two substantially adjacent removable cover portions preferably snugly wraps substantially adjacent surface areas of the container's exterior, and is releasably coupled by a narrow tear-off strip portion of the cover that also perimetrically wraps the container's exterior. One removable cover portion preferably helps to hold a cap in a closed orientation on the container's neck. Another removable cover portion preferably underlies a bottom part of the container's exterior surface, and thereby helps to hold the protective cover in place on the container. Yet another removable cover portion preferably wraps and grips a major part of the container's upstanding sidewall, and forms a disposable funnel when removed from the container's exterior.

  • Patent number: 5775385
Abstract: The invention is a method for changing oil that is much quicker, easier, and cleaner. To use the method one changes his oil in the regular way however he replaces the plug in the oil pan of the engine with a plug that has a quick disconnect valve on it. Then the next time one wishes to change oil he uses a container with a used oil tube connected to it. At the end of the used oil tube opposite the end connected to the closed container a quick disconnect is attached to the tube and said quick disconnect is adapted to fit the quick disconnect of the plug in the bottom of the oil pan. Thus, to remove oil from the motor vehicle one only has to connect the tube on the container to the tube in the plug at the bottom of the oil pan. In the preferred embodiment the plug in the bottom of the oil pan has a tube that runs out of it to the edge of the motor vehicle and this tube has a quick disconnect attached to the end opposite the end of the tube attached to the plug.

  • Patent number: 5584238
Abstract: A fat/stock separator comprising a colander, a transparent hopper vessel with a trap, a support base and a flow valve mounted to and connected through the wall of the hopper vessel to the trap for draining fluid from the hopper vessel. The colander in a preferred embodiment is sufficiently large to accept the stock and meat parts produced from cooking a large portion of meat or fowl, such as a complete turkey. The oil and fat contained within the stock separates and floats to the top after standing for a period of time. It is then possible to draw off through the flow valve fat free stock from beneath the layer of oil. The contours of the trap and the transparency of the hopper vessel facilitate determining accurately where the fat free stock ends, thereby making it possible to draw off fat free stock, whether there is a large or a small amount of liquid in the hopper vessel.

The jug is provided with a handle slot located below the neck, which tends to reduce rapid variations in pouring rate (i.e. `glugging`) as new oil is poured out. The platform aids in supporting the catch pan as used oil is drained from it through a drain opening, into the emptied jug which had contained the new oil. The catch pan is provided with a plug operated by a T-handle. Also disclosed are a funnel which can be nested in an inverted condition on the jug neck, and a catch pan with a boat-shape to permit over-the-lip pouring of used oil therefrom as an alternative to controlled draining of used oil therefrom through a bottom wall drain.
