Mechanical Or Lost Motion Connection Patents (Class 141/354)
  • Patent number: 5031675
Abstract: A device for sealing a container intended to be connected to a recipient provided with a connector for supply of its contents to the recipient in such a way that the container can be applied to and removed from the recipient without leakage and is sealed after the removal. For this purpose an elastic body is included in the device, which contains a cavity with a thin bottom, which cavity is adapted to the connector and is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis of the body, so that the interior portion of the body is displaced radially time of application of the device to the connector and opens a channel between the body and the container wall for air supply to the container. The interior portion of the cavity is smaller than the exterior portion of the connector to enable the connector to open the sealing device by widening a normally closed hole or slit located at the bottom of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4997015
Abstract: A heat insulated coffee carafe for placement at the brewed coffee outlet of a coffee maker is provided with a securely fitting lid through which the coffee passes directly into the carafe without removal of the lid. When the carafe and its lid are placed in the coffee maker, mutual pressure between the lid and the coffee maker causes seals in the lid to open and permits the coffee to enter the carafe without removing the lid and with a minimal loss of heat and coffee aroma. Removal of the carafe and lid from the coffee maker automatically closes the seals to retain the heat and aroma in the carafe for long periods of use. In another embodiment a positive drip-stop seal in the coffee maker is closed automatically when the carafe is removed, whereby dripping from the coffee maker is prevented. In a further embodiment, a drip-stop seal in the coffee maker and a seal in the lid are both opened when the carafe is installed in the coffee maker.

  • Patent number: 4991635
Abstract: A system for supplying liquid in large bottles from a point where they are filled to a dispenser having a reservoir for receiving the liquid. The bottles each have a neck which carries a cap unit for closing the spout thereof. Each cap unit has an outlet valve that is normally closed. The reservoir has means for supporting another normally closed inlet valve in a neck-receiving socket. When the neck is slipped into the socket the outlet valve of the cap unit is opened and substantially simultaneously the inlet valve for the reservoir is opened thus allowing flow of water from the bottle into the reservoir. When the bottle is removed from the reservoir as the cap unit is withdrawn from the neck-receiving socket, the outlet valve in the bottle neck cap unit is positively closed and the inlet valve of the reservoir automatically closes.

  • Patent number: 4958668
Abstract: A pouring spout having an inlet portion and an outlet portion with an outlet end. A valve is mounted in the inlet portion and a device is provided for automatically opening or closing the valve as the spout is inserted in or withdrawn from the filling neck of a container to be filled. The valve opening or closing device comprises an actuating member connected to the valve, which number is slidable relative to the outlet portion. A spring normally biases the actuating member to a rest position where the valve is closed. Insertion of the spout in the filling inlet of the container causes the actuating member to move and to open the valve. Preferably the degree of opening of the valve is controlled in order to achieve varied flow rates. A hollow rib is provided on the exterior of the pouring spout to provide an air vent into a filling container.

  • Patent number: 4924921
Abstract: By employing two independent, separate and distinct flow paths which are controllably sequentially opened during use in a single actuation operation, an error-free, flame and explosion proof liquid delivery/filling system is achieved. In the preferred embodiment, both flow paths are normally maintained in a closed, sealed configuration, requiring an actuation force to controllably, sequentially open the flow paths. Furthermore, the preferred embodiment is compact in design and provides an easy to use system, without sacrificing its inherent benefits. In addition, a flow diverging structure is mounted in the liquid flow path to assure complete removal of all of the air from the chamber being filled.

  • Patent number: 4905875
Abstract: An adaptor for attachment to the spigot of a standard disposable "bag-in-box" container for liquids such as wine or milk is disclosed. The adaptor allows the user to conveniently dispense liquid from the spigot to a glass using only one hand. The adaptor incorporates a collar for attachment to the spigot, and a handle which is activated by pressure from the glass to open the spigot. The handle pivots on two horizontal arms extending from the collar. Connected to the handle are two downwardly extending arms which meet at a central horizontally projecting protuberance. By pressing the handle, the V-shaped arms are rotated upwardly and the horizontal protuberance is pressed upwardly against the toggle lever of the spigot.

  • Patent number: 4884600
Abstract: An oil nozzle allows for oil to be poured into an engine without the spillage and waste commonly accompanying oil pouring from conventional threaded containers. By use of the tightening member a threaded oil container is attached to the oil nozzle in its closed position and positioned on top of an oil receiving port of an engine. The oil container is pushed downward which opens the oil nozzle and allows oil flow from the container into the oil port. After a desired amount of oil has been dispensed, downward pressure is applied to the shut-off handle which seals the nozzle in its closed position.

  • Patent number: 4690377
Abstract: Disclosed is a valve for use in a pressure-resistant container, permitting the full filling of the container with a liquefied gas thanks to a well controlled gas depletion path. The opening and closing of the depletion path is effected by bringing two opposing contact members apart and close to each other whereas the flow rate of gas depletion depends on the roughness of the contact surface areas of the opposing member. Such an appropriate depletion path can be made without difficulty such as encountered with formation of depletion path with recourse to machining.

  • Patent number: 3989071
Abstract: A gas lighter of the type having a tank, a filler valve and a valve head which is biased by a spring to press normally against a seal surface. In order to make sure that there is enough space above the liquid fuel to permit expansion of the fuel a predetermined dimension H is provided above the fuel in the tank. This is accomplished by selecting the length of the filler valve housing to correspond to this dimension H. In addition, the closing movement of the valve head is delayed or retarded by introducing friction into the movement of the valve which permits a portion of the liquid fuel to blow off. The delay device may be determined by force or by the shape of the friction surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3934626
Abstract: An axially compliant injection nozzle for plastic molding machines incorporating a valve actuated by differential motion between the mold and the conditioning chamber comprises a tappet engaged on the stem of that valve and entrapping a valve spring between the valve seat and the tappet. The nozzle has a sliding fit with a bore in the tappet head and is biased away from the latter by a secondary spring. The action of the secondary spring aids in maintaining good sealing contact between the nozzle and the sprue bushing and during the injection period despite variations in the lock-up force between the nozzle and the sprue, and retains such contact subsequent to injection so as to prevent plastic drip due to backflow.
