  • Patent number: 9233828
Abstract: A fueling data collection unit associated with a fuel transfer apparatus and for use with a system for managing fueling transactions of a fleet operator using fuel transfer apparatuses at one or more locations includes a fueling data interface module and a temperature compensation module. The temperature compensation module compensates for a volume variance of the fuel as a result of temperature variance from the standard temperature data to determine a volume correction factor at the measured fuel temperature, while the temperature compensation module uses the measured fuel temperature to determine a compensated, more accurate volume and/or mass of fuel dispensed through the fuel meter. In this way, the fuel data collection unit can accurately measure the volume and/or mass of fuel being delivered. This allows the provider and the recipient to more accurately sell/buy what was actually delivered and can avoid over-filling a fueling order.

Abstract: A fuel intake assembly may include a main tube (24, 56, 98, 122) defining a fuel channel (25, 57, 99) at least one flapper (30, 94, 126, 166) pivotally secured within the main tube (24, 56, 98, 122), and a selective nozzle inhibitor (160) proximate the at least one flapper (30, 94, 126, 166). The least one flapper closes the fuel channel (25, 57, 99) in a closed position. The selective nozzle inhibitor (160) allows a first nozzle having a first diameter to move the at least one flapper into an open position. The selective nozzle inhibitor (160) allows a second nozzle having a second diameter to move the at least one-flapper into the open position, wherein the second diameter is greater than the first diameter. The selective nozzle inhibitor (160) prevents a third nozzle having a third diameter to open the at least one flapper, wherein the third diameter is less than the first diameter.

One end of the receptacle attaches to the line that is used to transfer fluid from a storage tank, such as an oil storage tank, and the other end of the receptacle attaches to the line that is used to transfer fluid into a second container, such as a tank on an oil transport vehicle. The receptacle remains attached to both of these lines during fluid transfer. Abstract: An adapter connects different sized conduits to a radiator, where each conduit has an open end configured differently than the open ends of the other conduits. The adapter includes a body member having a cavity therein, with a connection member having one end extending from the body member to be attached to a coupling member and another end in communication with the cavity. A passageway extends between these ends. Tubular inserts are individually and independently coupled to one sized conduit. Each insert has a first end sized to fit snug within the cavity and a second opposed end sized to fit within an open end of one of the conduits.

  • Patent number: 6478056
Abstract: A fluid transfer nozzle for fuel oil and other fluid products allows for the one step removal of locking caps for vertical filling pipes. The locking cap includes a detent mechanism that, under the force of gravity, engages an obstruction within an input port of the pipe, preventing its rotation and therefore its removal. The nozzle has a socket within its mouth that engages the cap to allow rotation of the cap with rotation of the nozzle. Also within the nozzle mouth is a magnetic element that generates a magnetic field to draw the detent mechanism into an unlocked position against the force of gravity. With the cap so unlocked, the nozzle may be rotated to loosen the cap and allow its removal.

  • Patent number: 6450214
Abstract: A dispensing valve cap mountable to a bottle is provided with a first valve part having a tubular portion having an air inlet, the first valve part further including a fluid outlet spaced apart along a longitudinal axis of the tubular portion to form a constant head valve for dispensing fluid from the bottle. A second valve part of the valve movably mounted to the first valve part includes a tubular portion for simultaneously closing both the air inlet and the fluid outlet of the first valve part when fluid dispensing is not desired. The second valve part further includes an air inlet alignable with the air inlet of the tubular portion when fluid dispensing is desired. A sleeve of the second valve part is rotatably mounted to the first valve part. A cap is mounted to the first valve part for rotational and longitudinal movement. Rotation of the sleeve results in rotational and longitudinal movement of the cap. The dispensing valve cap controls fluid flow from the bottle.

  • Patent number: 6431400
Abstract: A dispenser apparatus for controlling the type and brand of a product dispensed therefrom, so that only authorized products are dispensed from the apparatus. A container inserted into a housing case stores the product, the container having an exit port. A chute directs the flow of the discharged product. A drive assembly causes the product to move from the container through the chute to be dispensed therefrom. A magnetic sensor is attached to a support surface of the housing case, and a wafer is attached to the container. The wafer has a magnet embedded therein, and the container is inserted into the housing case so that the wafer is received by and mates with the housing case to align the magnet with the magnetic sensor. A location of the magnet embedded in the wafer of the container is detected by the magnetic sensor of the housing case so that the container is identified. The drive means is only activated when the container is identified as an authorized container based on the location of the magnet.

Abstract: A description is given of a container closure for filling and emptying containers, in particular drum-like transporting containers, which can be inserted in an exchangeable manner into a container opening, which receives a plug head. The container closure has a riser tube, which is connected to the plug head, and a removal connection element, it being the case that the latter can be locked to the plug head by means of a stud coding system which has coding studs and matching coding recesses. According to the invention, the coding studs are provided on a first securing part and the coding recesses are provided on a second securing part. One of the securing parts is designed as an annular disc, which can separately be fitted loosely, such that it cannot slip off, onto the modular removal connection element. The other of the securing parts is integrated in the plug head.

  • Patent number: 6105633
Abstract: A dispensing apparatus (200) dilutes a liquid concentrate to form a dilute use solution for dispensing into a bottle having first and second lockout sections. The dispenser (200) includes an aspirator (222) and a valve (210) operatively connected to the aspirator (222) to control flow of liquid diluent. A base member is positioned under the aspirator (222) and has first and second sides (206 and 207). Each side has an inwardly protruding lockout member (249 and 250). The bottle (201) has elongate lockouts (245 and 246) and vertical lockouts (247 and 248). The lockouts provide for a lockout to prevent the wrong bottle from entering the dispenser (200) and also provides for alignment of the bottle (201) as it is moved vertically towards the aspirator (222).

Abstract: The present invention is directed toward a vial-loading mechanism for a system that prepares and delivers one or more IV drugs to a patient. The vial-loading mechanism is used to load a vial onto a cassette spike and includes a vertical support member located adjacent to the spike. A holding assembly holds at least one vial. The holding assembly is mounted to the support member so as to be positionable between an upper position for loading a vial and a lower position for piercing the vial with a spike. The holding assembly has an arcuate-shaped holding member for holding the vial. A catch is provided with an engagement unit for securing the holding assembly in the lower position. This arrangement provides an easy way to add, retain, and remove vials from the system and protects the clinicians that do this from contacting the spikes and hurting themselves.
