Publication number: 20040163727Abstract: A vapor pressure equalizer system for reducing the pressure of a storage tank that contains volatile liquid or fuel. A conduit is connected to the storage tank that draws vapors present in the ullage of the storage tank into the conduit. The vapors are circulated through the conduit to cool the vapor and return the vapor to the storage tank. In this manner, the pressure of the storage tank is reduced since the vapors being returned are cooler and smaller in volume than when the vapors entered the conduit. The conduit may be an open system that circulates vapors, or may be a closed system that circulates a cooling media through a radiator in the ullage of the storage tank. An electronic controller controls the operation of the system according to measurements that indicate an overpressure condition or a likelihood of future over-pressurization.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 24, 2004Publication date: August 26, 2004Inventor: Seifollah S. Patent number: 6779565Abstract: A system is disclosed for the manufacture and use of a composite reinforced gas transport module (“GTM”). A metal shell of the system is wrapped circumferentially with a composite reinforcement, the composite reinforcement is post cured and the metal shell is then pressurized beyond the yield point of its material to load the composite reinforcement. The system is then brought to ambient temperature. The expansion deformation of the metal shell due to pressurization beyond the yield point results in a loading of the metal shell by the cured composite reinforcement at ambient temperature. Thus, a negative hoop stress condition is created in the metal shell at ambient to reduce the hoop stresses created during subsequent pressured operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2003Date of Patent: August 24, 2004Assignee: NCF Industries, Inc.Inventor: Norman C. Patent number: 6619336Abstract: A system for dispensing pressurized gas is provided which includes a pressurized gas source, a receiving tank, a gas flow line connected between the gas source and the receiving tank, a valve for initiating and terminating flow of gas between the gas source and the receiving tank, an electronic controller, and temperature and pressure sensors for sensing temperature and pressure of gas inside the receiving tank. The electronic controller stores a tank rated density and the temperature and pressure of gas and periodically calculates a density of the gas in the receiving tank based on the temperature and pressure. The electronic controller periodically compares the density of the gas with the tank rated density and initiates flow of gas through the valve when the density in the receiving tank is below the rated density and terminates flow of gas through the valve when the density reaches the tank rated density.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2002Date of Patent: September 16, 2003Assignee: Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Perry Cohen, David John Farese

Patent number: 6604561Abstract: A resealable cap for a medicament vial has a base portion formed of vulcanized rubber or like material known for providing a stable environment for the medicament contained within the vial, and a resealable portion overlying the base portion. The resealable portion is made of low-density polyethylene or like material, and can be punctured by a needle or like injection member for dispensing medicament into the vial. Prior to filling, the cap is assembled to the vial and the cap/vial assembly is sterilized. Then, a needle is inserted through the cap and medicament is introduced through the needle and into the vial. Upon withdrawal of the needle, the penetrated region of the cap is fused by laser or direct heat sealing to hermetically seal the needle hole in the cap.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2001Date of Patent: August 12, 2003Assignee: Medical Instill Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Daniel Py

Patent number: 6591872Abstract: A process for the dynamic manufacture and packaging of gas mixtures containing a first component and a second component in predefined proportions, the first and second components being chosen from the group formed by O2, N2, He and N2O, in which predetermined proportions of the first and second components are dynamically mixed in order to obtain a gas mixture of the desired composition and the temperature of the mixture is adjusted in order to keep it above the demixing threshold temperature of the mixture. This process is particularly suitable for the production of analgesic gas mixtures that can be used in the medical field, particularly a mixture formed from 50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2001Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Assignee: Air Liquide Sante (International)Inventor: Serge Wagenheim

Patent number: 6585010Abstract: A precision fine powder dispersing supply apparatus includes a fine powder storage vessel, a minute amount supply feeder, a supply device for supplying fine powder in the storage vessel to the minute amount supply feeder, and a discharging device for discharging the fine powder from the minute amount supply feeder to the subsequent process. It is preferable to dispose a heat unit to the transportation path of the fine powder discharged from the minute amount supply feeder. Further, it is preferable to dispose fine particle sensors to the minute amount supply feeder to confirm the feed operation of the fine powder. With this arrangement, the precision fine powder dispersing supply apparatus can stably supply the fine powder in a dispersed state in an ultra minute amount with pinpoint accuracy.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2000Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Nisshin Engineering Inc.Inventors: Kiyoshi Takahashi, Shuji Shinkai, Junichiro Hisazumi, Hiromitsu Suzuki, Hiroshi Murata

Patent number: 6584998Abstract: An apparatus and method provide automatic regulation of flow of fluid from a source where it is stored as liquified gas. The apparatus includes a flow control valve connected in a conduit connecting the source in flow communication to a vaporizer. The apparatus also includes a valve controller operable to regulate the flow of fluid in liquid phase at least partially through the valve. The controller derives the energy to operate the valve and the controller from the fluid when the fluid is in its gas phase. The vaporizer can be used to warm the fluid passing therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2000Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Innovative Engineered Solutions, LLCInventor: David V. Milner

Patent number: 6581652Abstract: A melting tank with a batch loading channel, with a channel covering having an exhaust gas flue and a loading opening that can be closed by a loading door or flap during operation of the melting tank and the loading opening can be opened for loading the batch. Emissions and service life improvements can be achieved because during operation of the melting tank, a constant air stream is introduced into the loading channel by nozzles in the closed loading door or flap. While loading the batch, the loading door or flap is moved sufficiently far so that the nozzles are moved out of the region of the loading channel, and the loading door or flap covers the region underneath the channel covering with a suction device. A region of the loading opening underneath the channel covering is opened for a loading device.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2001Date of Patent: June 24, 2003Assignee: Schott GlasInventors: Benno Riffel, Johann Faderl, Klaus Megges, Ralf Reiter
