Patent number: 6273154Abstract: During blasting work, large quantities of blasting material (granules, glass, beads, slag and sand) together with residues of blasted color coating are projected over a large area after impact with the surface being blasted. This results in the pollution of large areas of the surrounding environment. The large quantities of dust produced cause problems for the population over a much wider area. The novel suction device prevents blasting material, dust and liquids from escaping from the blasting site and the area immediately surrounding the blast nozzle into the environment during blasting work. A second suction system which functions separately allows the device, with its integrated blast pressure nozzle, to hold itself steady automatically, even in extreme working positions, such as overhead, hereby relieving the operator of this task, and can still be moved laterally in any direction.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2000Date of Patent: August 14, 2001Inventor: Horst Laug

Patent number: 5636671Abstract: A fuel vapor entrapment device, during fueling of a motor vehicle fuel tank, traps escaping fuel vapors so as to enhance vacuum-assisted vapor recovery system operation. By deflecting fuel vapors and capturing them temporarily until their removed to a vapor storage tank, the device substantially prevents the escape of fuel vapor into the atmosphere and enables the vapor recovery system to capture a higher percentage of escaping fuel vapor. During the fueling process, the fuel entrapment device encircles the vehicle tank filler port, thereby forming a vapor containment area from which fuel vapors are removed, and prevents the ingestion of excessive ambient air into the vapor recovery system. A vacuum relief hole permits the ingestion of a limited amount of ambient air so as to prevent the build up of excessive negative pressure and avert vehicle fuel tank collapse during vacuum-assisted vapor recovery operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 1995Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Inventors: David J. Patent number: 5535790Abstract: An apparatus for filling a pressurized can is provided that includes a pumping assembly having a piston for driving a liquid into the can. A cabinet encloses the pumping assembly and has a door which provides access to the pumping assembly. A first embodiment of the apparatus includes a manual lever arm assembly for driving the pumping assembly. A second embodiment of the apparatus includes a powered pneumatic cylinder for driving the pumping assembly and a control circuit for cycling the pneumatic cylinder. Preferably the control circuit includes a control valve for alternately supplying pneumatic fluid to upper and lower spaces of the pneumatic cylinder and a pair of accumulators for alternating the control valve. A third embodiment of the apparatus includes automatic means controls for driving the pumping assembly a selected number of piston cycles.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1994Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Inventor: Donald J. Patent number: 5499665Abstract: A waste cylinder rupture vessel for release and recontainerization of toxic contents of compressed gas cylinders is defined by an enclosed chamber which accommodates a plurality of bearing surfaces for supporting and positioning a target cylinder thereon. A puncture spike disposed within the chamber is adapted to puncture the target cylinder at its mid-section, thereby releasing its contents. Connections are provided communicating with the enclosed chamber for evacuating and recontainerizing the contents released by a punctured cylinder without release of the contents into the environment. All of the cylinder processing operations may be provided remotely.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1994Date of Patent: March 19, 1996Assignee: Earth Resources CorporationInventors: Jeffrey W. Patent number: 5458166Abstract: A conduit system for spraying cleansing and rinsing liquids on a machine for processing containers such as bottles has vertical conduit columns arranged around the machine with liquid infeed conduits confluent with the lower end of at least some of the conduit columns and opposite ends of the infeed conduits are closed by welding to a support plate that is bolted in non-interfering locations to the legs of a machine table below the level of the bottle transporting rotor. Further support for the conduit columns is obtained with pipe arms that do not conduct liquid but have opposite ends welded to the support plate and to the conduit column, respectively. Conduit struts connect between uppers ends of the conduit columns. The conduits have a series of nozzles aimed for spraying all regions of the machine that must be cleansed and sterilized intermittently or continuously.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1994Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Inventor: Hermann Kronseder

Patent number: 5441088Abstract: A liquified petroleum gas (LP gas) can recycling apparatus which includes a first compacting portion which safely evacuates the can for recovery of any residual gaseous product therefrom, then compacts the can, discharges the slug now compacted for collection; and a second gas treatment portion which collects the residual gas, repressurizes it and stores it in a repressurized gaseous state. The apparatus is preferably operated in an automated fashion by compressed air.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1994Date of Patent: August 15, 1995Assignee: Aervoe-Pacific Company, Inc. Patent number: 5404921Abstract: A system for charging compressed air cylinders with air for breathing incorporates a fragmentation containment chamber having walls of 1/4" minimum thickness steel plate and a carousel mounted in the front panel for transferring the cylinders into and out of the chamber. Specially configured locking plates are moved in and out of locking position for the carousel in accordance with the pressurizing operation. A rotary valve serves to insure that compressed air can only be transferred to the cylinders within the cylinder when they are in position for charging and not to the cylinders outside the chamber. A grating at the bottom of the chamber permits high pressure air to exit the chamber safely in case of any malfunction. Safety interlocks and automatic controls operate in accordance with rotation of the cylinders on the carousel results in the easy, rapid and safe charging of the breathing air cylinders.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1994Date of Patent: April 11, 1995Assignee: American Bristol Industries, Inc.Inventors: Charles L. Patent number: 5398734Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring the thermal treatment or sterilization of bottles or similar containers in a container-treatment machine that has a transport element that, for treatment at treatment stations, moves containers along a transport section between a container inlet and a container outlet. Thermal treatment of the containers with a hot medium is effected in a portion of the transport section. For monitoring purposes, at least one temperature sensor is provided for measuring the temperature of containers that have been heated up by the hot medium.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1993Date of Patent: March 21, 1995Assignee: KHS Maschinen- und Anlagenbau AktiengesellschaftInventor: Manfred Hartel
