  • Patent number: 9827618
Abstract: Devices, kits, and methods for making a carved crayon are provided. In one aspect, a crayon carving device includes a base, a pantograph armature coupled to the base, a crayon positioner, and at least one guide template parallel to the crayon positioner. The pantograph armature includes a motorized drive shaft with a drill tip for carving an outside surface of a crayon body, as well as a guide tip for tracing along a guide template that directs where the drill tip carves. In some embodiments, the guide template includes a stationary bridge support and a plurality of removable carving bucks that insert into one of multiple openings on the bridge support. The surface features of each of the carving bucks may be traced by the guide tip to generate a corresponding carving on the surface of a crayon body.

  • Patent number: 7016397
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of processing multipath-propagated components of a signal in a communications system. In the method, a signal transmitted on the radio channel of the communications system is received in a RAKE receiver and an impulse response of the radio channel is formed. In the method, one or more taps having the highest signal energy in the impulse response are located and matched to a short matched filter. A weighting value for the impulse response is calculated on the basis of the one or more taps in the matched filter and a deviation between the weighting value and the center point of the matched filter is compared with a threshold value set for the deviation. The matched filter is moved toward the deviation when the deviation exceeds the threshold value set for the deviation.

  • Patent number: 5899251
Abstract: One or a plurality of machined timber elements of complimentary first and second configuration wherein each element is characterized by having at least one face surface (1,2) and one abutment surface (3,4) wherein said abutment surface incorporates in said first configuration an elongate undercut slot or female dovetail (5) and in said second configuration incorporates a correspondingly shaped, undercut elongate protuberance or male dovetail (8) and said abutment surface is not orthogonal in relation to said face surface such that said first timber element configuration and said second timber element configuration are adapted for co-operative engagement to effect the joining together of a first timber element incorporating said first timber element configuration with a second timber element incorporating said second timber element configuration whereby the undercut slot of said first timber element interengages with the protuberance of said second timber element to form a self locking joint.

  • Patent number: 5593257
Abstract: An apparatus for removing hardened substances such as putty or the like from a window sash without removing the window sash from its frame and without requiring a separate external guide comprises a rotary cutter member with a cutting blade and a sleeve member including a guide ledge extending forwardly from a portion of the front face of the sleeve member to engage a surface of the window sash to position the cutting blade relative to the putty holding surface of the sash in the direction perpendicular to the putty holding surface. The apparatus may further include an extension member and a stabilizing member to be used when a hardened substance is to be removed from a sash having associated with it a storm window or the like that would otherwise interfere with an electric drill or other power source and prevent the cutter blade from reaching the putty.

  • Patent number: 4146350
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming solid bodies by removing material from solid workpieces. A workpiece is situated between oppositely rotating tools which remove material from the workpiece, these tools having hollow interiors facing each other and each conforming to the configuration of one half of the finished body. The hollow interiors of the tools have teeth for removing material from the workpiece, and while the tools are rotated oppositely the distance therebetween is due so that from the workpiece a body is gradually formed, this body finally becoming almost completely enclosed within the hollow interiors of the tools, whereupon the latter have the distance therebetween increased so that the body formed thereby can be removed. These tools are adapted to form from a workpiece bodies of full circular or ring-shaped configuration, and the hollow interiors of the tools are provided with raised teeth similar to file teeth, for removing material from a workpiece.
