Abstract: A survival tool intended for fire starting with a novel tinder generation element which creates fine, elongated slivers of combustible material which ignite and dry easily even in damp or wet environments. The device combination of a pyrophoric element, striker, ignitable material and other optional elements with the elongated tinder generation component reduces the risk of injury and subsequent infection over bladed alternatives, while also containing all required elements for wilderness fire starting in a small convenient package.
