  • Publication number: 20130098504
Abstract: The transporting roller (1) has teeth (6) arranged in a distributed manner over the circumference. To allow a high advancing force to be achieved with the transporting roller (1) at the same time as an only low pressing force over a long operating time and service life, at least some of the teeth (6) comprise a main tooth (7) and at least one secondary tooth (9), which is arranged at a distance from the main tooth and has a smaller tooth tip radius (r2) than the main tooth (7). With the secondary teeth (9), there is an additional transfer of force exerted on the workpiece (2). The secondary teeth (9) limit the depth of penetration of the main teeth (7). When there is a high pressing pressure, the secondary teeth (9) penetrate partially into the work-piece (2). The main and secondary teeth (7, 9) penetrate only slightly into the workpiece (2), and so only a small amount of material has to be removed to eliminate any markings.

  • Patent number: 7565921
Abstract: A log feed roll for displacing a log has a roll which may be rotated around a rotary axis, flutes for propelling the log, and removable flute attachments fastened to the flutes for contacting the log during engagement of the log in the feed roll. The flutes have flute apertures extending through side walls thereof. The attachments have a top attachment section from which generally opposed side braces extend. The attachments are fastened to the flutes by bolts extending through the brace apertures on one side brace, the flute apertures and the brace apertures on the opposing side brace, and nuts engaged on the bolts on the opposing side brace. The side walls are situated between the side braces, in abutment therewith when the attachment is fastened to the flute.

  • Patent number: 7546964
Abstract: An improved feed roller assembly wherein the feed roller provides a force perpendicular to the feed direction of the brush material. In a first embodiment, cleats that are not parallel to an axis of rotation of the feed roller are affixed to a periphery of the feed roller. When the feed roller is oriented with its axis of rotation in a substantially vertical position, each cleat is arranged with its upper end ahead of its lower end, in a direction of rotation. This configuration provides a downward force on the logs or brush being fed into the chipper, thereby reducing the occurrence of bucking. In an additional embodiment, the axes of rotation of the feed rollers lean toward the outfeed end of the brush chipper.

  • Patent number: 6481471
Abstract: A roller for grasping a log for axial movement or rotation of a log, the roller including spike bar retainers fastened on the cylindrical surface of the roller. The spike bar retainers accept and retain replaceable spike bars, thus facilitating replacement of worn spikes, which may be replaced without removal of the roller. The spike bars formed of alloy steel feature an improved type of spike having planar side surfaces that converge to a pointed end. The improved spikes grip and hold logs at lower average pressures over an extended period of use than conventional conical spikes.
