Abstract: An elevating and clewing continuous log turner includes a mainframe having a movable frame adapted for vertical or horizontal translation relative to the mainframe. A rotating group is mounted in the movable frame. The rotating group has a passageway therethrough. Roller arms are pivotally mounted around a perimeter of the rotating group. The roller arms concentrically clamp the log relative to the rotating group to thereby rotate the log about its longitudinal axis simultaneously with selective rotation of the rotating group. At least one actuator horizontally and vertically translates the movable frame relative to the mainframe.

Abstract: A log on a surface of a translatable carriage against head blocks of the carriage is turned by rolling the log on the surface of the translatable carriage after releasing the log from engagement by reciprocating dogs that are carried by the head blocks and before advancing the translatable carriage toward a saw. The turning of the log on the surface is accomplished by engaging the log by a reciprocating dog that is carried by a pivoting arm at a location away from the engagement of the log by the reciprocating dogs that are carried by the head blocks. After turning of the log on the surface of the translatable carriage, the log is pushed along the surface of the translatable carriage back toward the head blocks by pushing against the log by spaced-apart double-acting cylinders that are mounted on non-translatable stands respectively.
Abstract: Machine for profile working of front surfaces on oblong wood workpieces resolves the problem of simple, accurate and fluent or continued working of workpieces front surfaces of various lengths and intersections, and the machine is of a compact construction. It is characteristic by the construction of the entrance turnover device transversely placed between longitudinal conveyors with carriers, which has on the periphery of rotating wheels constructed movable bearing couplings, and by them fixed guiding plates with the groove inside which there are movably inserted guided bearings of bearing couplings. In the area of the entrance turnover device there are placed under an optional angle the oblique roller conveyors, inside which there are flexibly and circularly movably inserted rolls.
Abstract: To make the usable wood volume of the tree trunks as large as possible, octagonal or dodecagonal dressed timbers are proposed from which then boards or beams with inclined edges are cut. To produce octagonal or dodecagonal dressed timbers, in a first machining stage (11) two side surfaces (13) are milled off the tree trunk, it is then turned by 90° and two additional side surfaces (19) are milled off in a second machining station (17). Immediately thereafter in another machining station (21) with four (for octagonal dressed timbers) or eight (for dodecagonal dressed timbers) milling cutters (22) the remaining rough edges (20) are milled off.
