Abstract: Parquet tiles cut from the ends of barrels, preferably wooden wine or whisky barrels; a method of forming the tiles using a tongue- and groove-defining template; and parquet flooring which uses the tiles, are disclosed.
Abstract: A concentric coaxial cutting machine which cuts cylinders, cylindroids or cones using a chain saw from a single larger object such as a wood tree trunk, a block of ice or a block of plastic.
Abstract: A guide bar for a chain saw includes a pair of side plates and a center plate disposed therebetween. Each of the side plates includes spray holes through which a liquid can be sprayed. Liquid-conducting tubes are mounted in a longitudinal center slot of the center plate, and outlet ends of the tubes are connected to the spray holes of one of the side plates. Inlet ends of the tubes are connected to fittings mounted in a rear end of the guide bar to enable the tubes to receive liquid from a liquid source. A worn guide bar can be reversed, while still permitting the spraying to be performed. That is, while the guide bar is being reversed, the tubes are removed to enable the fittings to be reversed. Then, the inlet ends of the tubes are reconnected to the fittings, and the outlet ends of the tubes are connected to the spray holes formed in the other side plate.
Abstract: A table includes two channels and four pressers slidably engaged with the channels by bolts and secured to the table by the bolts. The pressers each includes an extension for engaging with the tool and for pressing the tool in place. Four bolts are threadedly engaged with the free ends of the pressers for spacing the free ends of the pressers from the table and for preventing the free ends of the pressers from being bent when the pressers are secured to the table. The pressers may be adjusted along the channels for securing tools of different sizes.
Abstract: The ends of a plurality of stacked lumber pieces are embossed with an apparatus that includes an embossing plate having a vertical, planar embossing surface with three-dimensional indicia thereon; a press plate spaced from the embossing plate, the press plate including a plurality of adjacent press plate segments, each having a lumber contact surface facing the embossing surface, each of the contact surfaces being movable between a retracted position and an extended position toward the embossing plate; a lumber support for supporting a plurality of stacked, parallel lumber pieces with first and second opposed ends between the plates with the first end of the lumber pieces being toward the embossing plate and the second end of the lumber pieces being toward the press plate; drive means attached to the press plate segments to independently move the plate segments between retracted and extended positions; and a controller operatively associated with the drive means to actuate the drive means in a predetermined s
Abstract: The object of the invention is a colour-marking arrangement in the cutting flange of timber harvester. The arrangement includes a flange (1) with a carrier (6, 7), an adapted pipework (4), a series of channels (12) formed to the carrier (6, 7) and connected to the pipework (4), which ends opposite to the connector connections (11). The pipework (4) is formed from a separate component (4, 9, 10) from the flange (1), and is adapted to be set into the flange (1) in a space (3) reserved for it in the same way as the flange (1) is set into the carrier (6, 7) by means of a longitudinal movement.
Abstract: A multiple use woodworking machine having a multiplicity of working stations in which different operations can be performed simultaneously, if so desired. This machine is characterized by simplicity, convenience and versatility, providing within the bounds thereof an essentially complete home workshop. A feature of the machine is a main shaft which constitutes its principal moving part. Rotation of this simply constructed shaft is utilized in carrying out a multiplicity of operations including, for example, sawing, surface sanding, drilling, disc sanding and lathe operations.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus are disclosed for cutting pairs of symmetrical bevels on opposite sides of halving joints used for windows, doors, and the like, and a groove-like recess on a third side of the workpiece. The first pair of bevels is cut on one side of the clamped workpiece by moving the cutting tool in a horizontal direction over and across the workpiece; then, the workpiece fastened within the clamping device is turned 180.degree. over the operation path of the grooving tool, which cuts the recess automatically during this turning operation. Subsequently, the tool is moved in the opposite direction into the starting position as it cuts the pair of bevels into the second, opposite side of the workpiece, and finally the workpiece is turned back into the starting position.
Abstract: Carriage attachment apparatus is disclosed for carrying a workpiece on an associated saw table whereby planar surfaces may be formed by sawing with common attachment between the carriage and a woodturning lathe being provided so that the sawed product is turned about the same rotational axis affording a high degree of symmetry.
