Auger Cutter Patents (Class 144/69)
  • Patent number: 7137420
Abstract: A mortiser tool comprises a drill bit, a cutting element mounted around the drill bit and a motor means. In use a motor rotates the drill bit independently of the cutting element, and in use a motor moves the drill bit in a first reciprocating action, in which the cutting element is axially movable in relation to the drill bit. The drill bit is provided with a transmission adapted to axially move the cutting element in a second reciprocating action in use, which second reciprocating action is axially non-synchronous with the first reciprocating action.

  • Patent number: 6401772
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting dovetail joints comprises one or more trapezoidal mortising chisels mountable on a drill press, each trapezoidal mortising chisel having a trapezoidal cross sectional shape with a particular slope or “pitch” on its non-parallel sides. The trapezoidal mortising chisels are used to cut sockets in the tail board of a dovetail joints, where the sockets have a trapezoidal shape with sloped sides. A given slope can be selected for the sides of the sockets by selecting a trapezoidal mortising chisel having the given slope. A washer is also provided which is mountable about the tilt axis of a tiltable work table of the drill press. The washer has a set of holes located at an angle about the washer on either side of a reference radius, where the angle correspond to the slopes of the non-parallel sides of the trapezoidal mortising chisels.

  • Patent number: 5595226
Abstract: A drilling/cutting machine for forming joints for accommodating metal protrusions of a metal plate connector. The machine can cut one or more joints simultaneously with a drilling/cutting bit that drills and simultaneously cuts smaller and larger width slots completing the joint.

  • Patent number: 5000628
Abstract: A new square hole cutter is designed so as to be as compact as possible with minimal clearance space between each individual component. The rotating cutting gears are one piece items that attach to a central hub. The drive shaft and central drive gear are disposed through the central hub. The central drive gear is removable by pulling it over the drive shaft, thereby allowing the drive shaft to quickly removed. The whole cutting unit is easily and quickly assembled and disassembled.

  • Patent number: 4137003
Abstract: A drill jig for producing a rectangular mortise in the flat surface of a workpiece requiring only a portable drill and drill bit. The rectangular slot is intended to snugly house a standard square or hex nut so as to keep it from turning in either direction. The jig also permits production of a pilot hole perpendicular to the mortised slot for receiving the threaded end of a bolt for mating with the embedded nut. The drill jig in a preferred embodiment includes a pair of substantially identical drill guide members, an anvil plate, and a stationary support, all of which are movably disposed on a vertical support member. The workpiece is clamped between the lower drill guide plate and the anvil plate. Each of the drill guide plates includes a channel-shaped member having the desired slot templates formed therein, and a movable template disposed therewithin.
