Abstract: Castable high explosive compositions having a binder system containing plastisol grade nitrocellulose (PNC) and an energetic plasticizer are disclosed. The explosive composition also includes a solid high explosive ingredient, such as an explosive nitramine. Reactive metals, such as aluminum, magnesium or titanium, and oxidizers, such as ammonium perchlorate, ammonium nitrate, or ammonium dinitramide, are optionally included in the explosive compositions of the present invention. The disclosed explosive compositions have a typical detonation velocities above about 8000 m/s.

Abstract: A solid or semisolid propellant comprising grains of propellant or propellant components bonded together so as to create voids within the propellant volume, said grains bonded together with sufficient strength to substantially delay the fluidization of the propellant by the onset of Taylor unstable burning, said propellant having a rapid burn rate below that associated with Taylor unstable burn. In another embodiment, the grains are held within and the voids are filled with viscous fluid binder such as a petroleum oil, said binder functioning to hinder Taylor unsatable burning and yet permit very rapid burning within the propellant volume.
Abstract: This invention relates to improved desensitized dynamites, the improvement comprising the incorporation of a desensitizing compound selected from the class of compounds known as diesters, polyesters, triesters except those esters containing benzyl rings, and dialkyl substituted amides or combinations thereof.
Abstract: A high density emulsion blasting agent and method is provided for increasing volume energy and optimizing booster sensitivity of water-in-oil emulsion blasting agents without loss of desirable handling characteristics of invert emulsions by utilizing an effective amount of a special sensitizing formulation in total or partial substitution for gas entraining density control agents.
Abstract: 1. A process for the production of a cast propellent which consists in blending a colloided nitrocellulose smokeless powder composition containing a platonisation agent selected from the group consisting of lead stearate, lead citrate, lead salicylate, lead 2:4 dihydroxy-benzoate, lead sulphite, lead oxide, copper oxalate, copper salicylate, copper 2:4 dihydroxy-benzoate and cupric oxide, with colloided nitrocellulose smokeless powder composition containing a secondary flash suppressing potassium salt in the proportion by weight of at least three parts of the first mentioned nitrocellulose composition, adding to the blended nitrocellulose compositions a casting liquid consisting essentially of nitroglycerine in an amount sufficient to fill the interstices in the blended nitrocellulose compositions, and heating the resulting mixture.
