Abstract: A hand held dusting apparatus for use with a motor provided with a rotating axle, such as a variable speed drill, includes an elongated extension member attachable at one end to the rotating axle and a dusting member having a body section attachable to the opposite end of the elongated extension member and a dusting section constructed having multiple strands of synthetic fiber materials extending from the body section. In a preferred embodiment the apparatus further includes a tubular hand guide member fitted about the extension member and constructed to slide along the extension member. In another preferred embodiment the body of dusting section has a mid-section that can be pivoted to allow the dusting elements to rotate about an axis set at an angle to the axis of the extension member.

Abstract: The broom having a bottom rod and an offset top rod is provided. Bristles are attached to the bottom of the bottom rod to contact a floor. Connecting the top and bottom rods is a grip rod. The grip rod desirably slants downward toward the floor when the broom bristles contact the floor. Desirably, the grip rod is attached at its bottom end to the bottom rod at an angle ? of from about 100° to about 150° preferably 100° to 140°. The grip rod is attached at its top end to the top rod at an angle ? of about 100° to about 150°, preferably 100° to 140°. As a result, the grip rod slants downward toward the floor when the broom bristles contact the floor. The grip rod is located a predetermined distance above the bristles so the grip bar can be grasped when the bristles contact the floor by the user in a standing position.

The holder includes a hollow tubular shaft with a circular cross section that includes a first end, a middle portion and a second end. Three or more semi-circular fasteners attach to the middle portion of the tubular shaft via flex points. One fastener includes a lock pin to engage a locking shaft. The locking shaft has an “L” shaped lock track having a sufficient size and dimension to fit about the tubular shaft and capable of sliding from the second end to a point proximate the first end. The extension rod connects to the holder via male threads which secure to female threads located at the second end of the tubular shaft.

The head portion includes an attachment means, which can comprise either a field of hooks or a field of loops. The attachment means receives a two-sided pad engagement member that preferably has fields of loops or hooks on one side to engage the respective hooks or loops of the attachment member, and a field of hooks on its opposite side. The hooks of the pad engagement member can securely retain a pad that carries the substance to be applied to the body.

This unique device provides an easier method of removing dust, dirt, cobwebs, and other debris from the tops of door and window frames, ceilings, ceiling fan blades, behind appliances and hard to move pieces of furniture, picture frames, and other hard to reach places. Many users, including short, pregnant, elderly, or disabled people, as well as any person having a limited range of mobility, would benefit from the use of this product. The duster with extension handle would consist of a long, plastic handle with a series of detachable cleaning heads and a handle extension that provides additional reaching capability. One such cleaning head would feature a flexible wire-coated piece that would be used in conjunction with various removable fabric covers for cleaning. The flexible piece could be bent at various angles for maximum cleaning benefit.

Abstract: The primary structural parts of the handle are two extruded telescopic tubes. A longitudinal rib on the smaller, inner tube slides in a groove in the rib on the larger, outer tube, preventing relative motion between the tubes. A box footplate is pivotally attached on a shaft to the free end of the outer tube with the axis of the shaft intersecting the long axis of the tubes and perpendicular to it. Rotation of the footplate is transferred by bevel gearing to a rod at the centers of the tubes which extends through a collet mechanism installed inside the smaller tube near its overlapped end. A lever and related linkage are attached to a fitting installed at the free end of the inner tube. The linkage connects the lever to the collect mechanism. Operation of the lever causes the collet to clamp onto the rod, thus locking the box footplate angular motion and the length of the handle. An auxiliary mechanism may be provided for locking the handle at any of a series of lengths.
