Bands Patents (Class 15/174)
  • Patent number: 6161328
Abstract: A multifunction flyswatter and broom for swatting and sweeping one of flies and bugs away from an area. The multifunction flyswatter and broom includes a handle including a side wall forming a pool therein and an open top end leading into the pool. A plurality of substantially rigid strands are partially received by the pool and extend through the top side of the handle forming a surface for one of swatting and sweeping flies and bugs. A loop may also be provided extending from a second side of the handle for carrying or hanging the multifunction flyswatter and broom. At least one band may be included to extend around the plurality of rigid strands for retaining the plurality of rigid strands together in a bunch, one of the bands may be positioned outside of said pool and moveable along a length of the plurality of rigid strands.

  • Patent number: 6138313
Abstract: A brush handle is disclosed having a core member which is surrounded by a layer of compressible and resilient gripping material of a non-slip nature, the layer of gripping material closely conforming to the contour of the brush handle and being mechanically interlocked to the handle by projections which are integral with the core member and extend into the layer of gripping material, and also at least partially bonded one to the other by heat and or chemicals. A brush having the above described handle sealingly secured to a brush head utilizing the layer of gripping material and a method of manufacturing a brush handle are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5920943
Abstract: A paint brush handle has an outer layer of a comfortable, relatively soft elastomeric material that surrounds a rigid core of foamed polyolefin. The handle is made using a co-injection process in which a mold cavity is first coated by an initial partial shot of the elastomeric material and then filled by injecting more elastomeric material and polyolefin material containing a foaming agent simultaneously. The simultaneous shot of these materials is achieved by injecting the materials through a single inlet passage into the mold cavity in which the flows are concentric, with the elastomeric material surrounding the polyolefin material. The ferrule is attached to the handle using nails or other suitable fasteners which penetrate into the rigid inner core.

  • Patent number: 5836037
Abstract: A broom having a handle with a threaded end and a broom head connected to the handle which includes a generally cylindrical sleeve made of plastic having a first end which defines an open surface extending axially therethrough and a second end which defines a forward threaded open surface extending axially therethrough in communication with the open surface of the first end, wherein the open surfaces are configured to receive the threaded end of the handle and wherein the sleeve is employed in a method for winding a broom head which includes mating the sleeve to a forward threaded shaft, fixing the position of the sleeve to the shaft, disposing broom corn about the sleeve, securing an end from a winding wire through the broom corn to the sleeve, clockwise rotating the shaft such that the winding wire wraps about the broom corn in a manner to secure the broom corn to the sleeve and connecting another end of the wire to the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5375288
Abstract: A broom specially designed for cleaning debris out of holes and cracks in asphalt and concrete prior to patching has a round broom head. The round head allows the broom to penetrate narrow holes and cracks resulting in more efficient and effective cleaning. The bristles are made of polypropylene and are similar to bristles used on street cleaners. A bristle band is free to move along the bundle of bristles, variably compacting the bristles for particular applications.

  • Patent number: 5174445
Abstract: A paint brush storage bag assembly for storing a paint brush in a storage liquid between uses and holding the brush while in use. The assembly comprises a foil bag for receiving the bristles and the adjacent portion of the ferrule therein. The bag has a relatively flat bottom for supporting itself in an upright position and also has a pair of vertical pleats therein for permitting an upper edge of the bag to be closed around the ferrule of the brush. A paint brush is provided and includes a relatively wide elastic band positioned in a stretched condition around the ferrule of the brush. The elastic band is rollable onto itself to form a band of increased thickness to serve as a drip guard. The brush can also be suspended on the edge of the foil bag by the rolled-up elastic band. The elastic band is unrollable downwardly over the upper edge of the foil bag to secure the bristles of the brush in the bag and seal the contents of the bag therein.

  • Patent number: 4265560
Abstract: The specification discloses a disposable toothbrush with a self-contained toothpaste supply comprising a transparent handle section and an adjustable brush head having upstanding bristles secured thereto. The transparent cylindrical handle section is hollow and contains the dentifrice material, which is discharged into the adjustable head section when the handle section is compressed. The quantity of discharge of the dentifrice material can be easily measured and judged by the graduation marks placed on the handle. The adjustable brush head has a discharge opening for ejecting the dentifrice material between the bristles when the cylindrical transparent handle section is compressed. The adjustable brush head is capable of being closed so that premature or accidental discharge of the dentifrice material while either in storage or in use does not occur.
