Patent number: 5572760Abstract: A cleaning apparatus with a rotatable frame in a housing. Objects to be cleaned are placed on the frame. A cleaning fluid is sprayed onto the objects to rotate the objects and frame. As the objects and frame rotate, the frame pushes against scrubbers which are thereby also rotated with the frame. Since the scrubbers themselves are mounted on a sum and planetary gear arrangement, the scrubbers spin against and thus clean the objects as they are being pushed by the rotating frame. Accordingly, the scrubbers are rotatable with the frame and rotatable relative to the frame. The scrubbers are still further slideable in the same direction relative to the rotatable frame to scrub each of the objects from end to end. Hence the objects are cleaned by spinning and sliding scrubbers as well as by the cleaning fluid being sprayed directly onto the objects. A method of cleaning objects or tools is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 1995Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Inventor: Mark Patun

Patent number: 5535472Abstract: A denture cleaner powered by a stream of falling water. A first rotary brush is geared to the gear. A second rotary brush is arranged at an angle to the first brush, with the bristles of the two brushes intersecting. The water falls onto a turbine or water wheel, which turns the first brush through a reducing gear. The first brush frictionally or interfittingly drives the second brush. Dentures are placed between the two brushes, and are held in place by the configuration of the cleaning chamber. Two pairs of brushes arranged in this manner are provided for cleaning two sets of dentures simultaneously. The water wheel is arranged selectively to divert a portion of the water stream into the cleaning chamber. A pocket having a perforated wall dispenses a cleaning agent into the cleaning chamber. The denture cleaner is thus independent of power from a manual, electric, or fluid pressure source, and operates without manual assistance from the user.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1994Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Inventor: George Miller

To do so, an additional loop (44) is formed in the area of the loop (12) and fresh band material is wound off of the reserve roll (13). The loop (44) is subsequently eliminated and the used band material is fed to the used-material roll (14).Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1990Date of Patent: September 10, 1991Assignee: Kuka Schweissan & Roboter GmbHInventors: Wilhelm Steinhart, Mohann Maischberger, Thomas Biewald, Gerwin Berens

Patent number: 5033155Abstract: The invention relates to a long-handled brush suitable for cleaning hollow bodies, e.g. drinkware, bottles, thermos flasks, bowls, vases, etc. The brush comprises a handle and a removable cleaning head. The cleaning head has an elastic core and an outer covering of fell or fell-like material, such as natural sheepskin. A headed bolt is preferably used to attach the cleaning head to the handle, with the bolt extending through a central longitudinal channel in the head. The cleaning head is preferably cylindrical and the handle may be telescopically extendable.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1988Date of Patent: July 23, 1991Inventor: Manfred Klotz

Patent number: 5025523Abstract: Apparatus and method for remotely decontaminating, cleaning, scrubbing or polishing the surface of a nuclear reactor cavity wall. The apparatus includes brushes for scrubbing the surface and a drive mechanism for rotating the brushes. The drive mechanism may be a gear drive, a chain and sprocket drive, or a belt and pulley drive. Connected to the brushes and enclosing the drive mechanism is an sealable enclosure. A drive axle extends from the drive mechanism to a motor which is disposed in a housing connected to and located proximate the enclosure. The motor is capable of rotating the drive axle which in turn operates the drive mechanism for rotating the brushes. A fluid dispenser is also provided for dispensing a cleaning agent against the surface to enhance the cleaning ability of the brushes. A container is attached to the housing for receiving ballast therein so that the brushes may exert a bearing pressure against the surface of the wall for suitably scrubbing the surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1989Date of Patent: June 25, 1991Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: Donald E. Patent number: 5012526Abstract: Stroke adjustment method and apparatus for a tool such as a motor-driven wire brush utilized to remove "frost" from plated cotton picker spindles. The apparatus includes an arm pivotally connected at one end to a workstation and at the opposite end to a storke cylinder which moves the attached brush into contact with a workpiece. The stroke cylinder is attached to a sliding member which is indexed by a ratchet device in response to a signal indicative of current draw of the motor. As the average current draw drops below a preselected minimum level, the ratchet device is automatically indexed to advance the stroke cylinder and move the brush closer to the workpiece.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1989Date of Patent: May 7, 1991Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: William W. Patent number: 4993096Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for deburring the surface of a printed circuit board passing along a moving conveyor. The apparatus comprises a rotating brush head for abrading against the first surface of the printed circuit board. A three phase wattmeter is utilized to sense the power consumption of the motor driving the rotating brush head and generate a signal in response thereto. A control circuit is connected to the three phase wattmeter and regulates the elevation of the brush head in response to the three phase power consumption of the motor.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1989Date of Patent: February 19, 1991Assignee: D.E.M. Patent number: 4987631Abstract: A cleaning attachment to fit a forklift truck for cleaning substantially vertical surfaces. The attachment includes a mounting frame fitted with spaced apart hollow sleeves to receive the forks of the forklift truck and thereby connect the frame with the hydraulic hoist for vertical movement. An elongate scrubbing element is mounted with a support frame connected with the mounting frame by spaced apart parallel arms. The arms are pivotally mounted with the mounting frame and support frame respectively to provide reciprocating movement of the scrubbing element toward and away from the surface to be cleaned. In use the scrubbing element is traversed over the surface to be cleaned by vertical movement of the hoist and horizontal movement of the forklift.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1989Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Assignee: Daxrose Pty. Patent number: 4984323Abstract: A denture brushing device comprising a container having an open top, a base and an essentially cylindrical cross-section with a denture receiving portion of reduced cross-sectional area adjacent the base of the container. A support member to support dentures to be cleaned is located in the denture receiving portion. A container lid adapted for threaded engagement with the container is provided, the lid having a manually rotatable brush extending therethrough such that when the lid is fitted on the container the brush extends into the container to contact dentures in the denture receiving portion. Rotation of the brush acts to clean the dentures, the denture receiving portion preventing the dentures from rotating with the brush.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 1989Date of Patent: January 15, 1991Inventor: Kevin C. Patent number: 4967439Abstract: A device for cleaning an inner wall of a tube for a wind musical instrument. The device includes a semi-rigid rod formed of separable half sections, which define, when contiguous to one another, an axially directed slit. A removable cleaning cloth is secured within the slit between the confronting walls of the half sections of the rod, when the confronting walls of the half sections are contiguous to one another. The cloth extends along the rod in the axial direction substantially the entire distance of the rod, when the walls of the half sections are contiguous to one another.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1989Date of Patent: November 6, 1990Inventor: Anthony F.
