Patent number: 7607193Abstract: An inventive device for removing the concealing coating on a gaming ticket is disclosed. The device is comprised of a top member and a bottom member, which join at an arcuate end, forming a flexible jaw-like structure. The top member joins to a downward-depending member having a scraping surface at its terminus. In use, a gaming ticket is inserted into the jaw-like structure and the top and bottom members are squeezed together to bring the scraping surface to bear against the concealing coating on the face of the ticket. As the ticket is pulled free of the jaw, the concealing coating is gradually peeled free from the face of the ticket by the scraping edge, thereby exposing the prize indicia located on the ticket face.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2007Date of Patent: October 27, 2009Inventor: Steven D. Patent number: 7302999Abstract: A curved scraper blade for a scraped-surface heat exchanger pivots about an axis off the centerline of the blade. The profile of the blade is chosen to provide a low initial scrape angle and to change gradually if at all as the blade wears away in service. The off-center pivot placement allows scraped material to flow between the blade and the drive shaft. Several materials are suitable for the blade, including PEEK thermoplastic.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2002Date of Patent: December 4, 2007Assignee: SPX CorporationInventor: Benjamin Hardy

Patent number: 7260866Abstract: A gutter-clearing tool having a scoop-plate and a top-plate where the front end of the top-plate is pivotally attached to the top end of the scoop-plate, and the top plate is attached to a rod. A pivot joint allows the scoop-plate to close upwardly toward the top plate when the apparatus is pushed through the gutter thereby providing a substantially reduced vertical profile, and allows the scoop-plate to open downwardly away from the top plate when the apparatus is pulled through the gutter thereby collecting debris and clearing the gutter.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2002Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Inventor: Barry Hubbard

Patent number: 7174599Abstract: The invention is a one-piece ergonomic shielding tool that can be held in one hand to define a boundary against which a surface is processed on one side and protected from processing steps on the opposite side. The invention achieves this utility by providing a handle that is ergonomically fitted for the human hand to allow prolonged use without fatigue or injury to the user. The invention includes a straight edge, or guide edge, for dividing a surface into two regions and a curved handle for ergonomic hand-held use. The ergonomic shielding tool and a paint removal apparatus are useful in combination for scraping paint from one section of a surface and leaving another section protected from the paint removal process. The tool is adapted for use in a method of removing dried paint from a surface in a precise manner.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2003Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Inventor: Ronnie J. Stiles
