Patent number: 6487745Abstract: Disclosed is a self-wringing flat mop. The mop includes a shaft having an operator end and a cleaning end, a plate disposed at the cleaning end of the shaft and being pivotally connected thereto, and a wringing mechanism. A liquid absorbent member such as a cleaning cover is disposed on the plate. The wringing mechanism includes a wringing handle that is disposed on the shaft and that is axially moveable with respect thereto, and a wringer connected to the wringing handle. When wringing the mop, the wringer handle is moved relative to the axis of the shaft to thereby move the wringer into a position to cover the plate and liquid absorbent member. In this position, the wringer exerts a force on the plate sufficient to compress the liquid absorbent member between the plate and the wringer.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2001Date of Patent: December 3, 2002Assignee: Freudenberg Household Products LPInventor: Paul B. Patent number: 6397427Abstract: A mop (1) for dry or wet mopping comprises an elongated mop-holder (2) and a shaft (9), which is connected to the mop-holder (2) by a universal joint (7). The universal joint (7) has a first pivot axis (a) extending in the longitudinal direction (A) of the mop-holder (2) and in parallel with the pane of the mop-holder, and a second pivot axis (b) perpendicular to the first pivot axis. The shaft (9)has a handle portion (10) and a coupling portion (11), which connects the handle portion (10) to the universal joint (7) and which is so designed that the longitudinal axis (C) of the handle portion (10) is displaced in relation to the universal joint (7) so as to intersect the plane (AB) beside the first pivot axis (a).Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 2000Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: Pro-Gruppen ABInventor: Peter Bryngelsson

Publication number: 20020050016Abstract: Cleaning sheets comprise an additive that is selected to enhance the pick up and retention of particulate material from surfaces, while minimizing the amount of residue left on the surface being cleaned. If the type of additive and level of additive on the cleaning sheet are not carefully selected, the sheet will leave a residue on the surface being cleaned resulting in filming and streaking of the surface that is unacceptable to consumers. The additive is preferably selected from the group consisting of a wax, an oil, and mixtures thereof. Cleaning implements comprise a mop head having a resilient bottom surface, a portion of which preferably has a substantially smooth curved profile or crown which engages a removable cleaning sheet.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2001Publication date: May 2, 2002Inventors: Kenneth William Willman, Michael Stephen Maile, Mark Leslie Kacher, Marty Allen Vanderstelt, Laura Krebs Brown, Benjamin Jacob Clare, Nicola John Policicchio

Patent number: 6370725Abstract: A mop is provided which has an elongate handle (3), a mop head (5), for carrying a squeezable mop material (13). The mop has arms (27, 29, 37, 39) which can be moved to effect squeezing of the mop material (13). The mop has a two axis swivel connector (7) which has two mutually perpendicular axis (57 and 59). The arrangement is such that the mop head (5) can be swung to various angular orientations relative to the handle (3) at the same time. A stop (56) is provided on the mop head (5) to act with the handle (3) when the arms (27, 29, 37, 39) are moved to effect squeezing, thereby allowing a squeezing force to be applied to the mop material (13).Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1999Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: The Decor Corporation Pty.
