Abstract: The windshield wiper washer apparatus is provided in a retrofit kit that is fitted to existing wiper assemblies and washer spray outlets of a vehicle. This basic kit provides for attaching hose clamps and tubes to the existing wiper assemblies. A washer spray outlet adapter takes the place of washer sprays of a vehicle. The washer spray outlet adapter fitting connects to hoses that connect to the hose connections of the tubes of the apparatus. Orifices within the tubes can thereby deliver washer fluid directly to the vehicle windshield, immediately adjacent to the wiper blades. Abstract: The invention starts with a wiper arm (10, 28; 42, 44) with at least one fan nozzle (20, 46, 70, 88) through which wash water is sprayed on an as-needed basis in a fan stream (22, 54, 76, 78, 90, 94, 98, 102, 106, 110, 114) onto a part of vehicle window (68) lying in the wiper direction (58, 59) in front of a wiper blade (16, 18; 36, 48), wherein the fan stream (22, 54, 76, 78, 90, 94, 98, 102, 106, 110, 114) hits the vehicle window (68) in the area of an impact line (24, 56, 80, 82, 92, 96, 100, 104, 108). It is proposed that the impact line (24, 56, 80, 82, 92, 96, 100, 104, 108) essentially runs parallel to the wiper blade (16, 18; 36, 48).

Abstract: If a washer switch is turned on in a state in which a wiper determining portion determines that a wiper switch is in an OFF state, and a vehicle speed determining portion determines that a vehicle speed is equal to or more than a predetermined speed, a simultaneous operation control portion ejects the washer fluid in a state in which the wiper is positioned at a lower reversing position. The simultaneous operation control portion causes the wiper to reciprocate at least once simultaneously with the ejection. The simultaneous operation control portion additionally ejects the washer fluid at least once, in a state in which the wiper is positioned at an intermediate position between the lower reversing position and an upper reversing position. Accordingly, it is possible to inhibit a lack of the washer fluid from being generated on the surface to be wiped.

Abstract: A washer nozzle provided in a wiper blade has a first ejection hole ejecting a first washer fluid, and a second ejection hole ejecting a second washer fluid. A first ejection axis, which is a center line of a first ejection port angle of the first ejection hole, is define. A second ejection axis, which is a center line of a second ejection port angle of the second ejection hole, is defined. The washer nozzle is structured such that the first ejection axis and the second ejection axis intersect with each other as seen from a width direction of the wiper blade.

Abstract: A wiper blade pivots in an open wiping direction and a close wiping direction opposite to the open wiping direction, thereby wiping a target surface to be wiped. The target surface has a lateral end. When moving in the open wiping direction, the wiper blade approaches the lateral end. The wiper blade defines a blade axis. A washer nozzle is arranged offset from the blade axis in the open wiping direction. An eccentric line extends parallel with the blade axis and passes through an ejection hole. The ejecting direction of washer fluid ejected from the ejection hole is set toward the blade axis with respect to the eccentric line.

Abstract: A wiper assembly for sweeping a glass surface on a vehicle. The wiper assembly includes a windshield washer assembly connected to the windshield wiper drive arm of the vehicle for controllably dispensing washer fluid directly down onto the glass surface of the vehicle. The wiper assembly also includes a novel control unit carried by the vehicle for controlling the dispensing of the washing liquid from the windshield washer assembly. Uniquely, the control unit includes a sensor that is operably associated with the pump for sensing the position of the wiper arm as it moves upwardly and downwardly relative to the glass surface and for controllably energizing the pump at selected positions of the wiper drive arm so that the washer fluid is always dispensed forwardly of the wiper blade to avoid smearing.

  • Patent number: 7272867
Abstract: This invention relates to windshield wiper system which utilizes a flexible drive arm for withstanding bending loads applied to a wiper. The drive arm may be made of a pull-molded composite material having a relatively low modulus of elasticity and a relatively high elongation factor. The flexible arm twists in the presence a bending load and undergoes rapidly progressing elastic buckling when the bending load exceeds a predetermined amount.
