  • Patent number: 10406859
Abstract: A tire apparatus is provided, the apparatus including a tire body for attachment to a wheel rim to define a first inflatable volume. An inner chamber defines a second inflatable volume which is located within the first inflatable volume of the tire body. A first fluid communication path is provided between the first and second inflatable volumes and a second fluid communication path is provided between the first inflatable volume and the atmosphere. A first valve opens and closes the first fluid communication path, and a second valve opens and closes the second fluid communication path. The tensile strength and pressure-containing capacity of the material structure of the second inflatable volume is greater than that of the tire first inflatable volume.

  • Patent number: 10017010
Abstract: A wheel assembly has a rim with an outer radial surface. A tire coupled to the rim defines a first interior region between the outer radial surface and the tire. A bladder coupled to the rim defines a second interior region between the outer radial surface and the bladder. A third interior region is defined between the bladder and the tire. The wheel assembly includes a valve fluidly coupled to the second interior region and the third interior region. The valve is movable between a first position and a second position. The second interior region and the third interior region are fluidly isolated from one another when the valve is in the first position. The second interior region and the third interior region may be fluidly coupled to one another when the valve is in the second position.

  • Patent number: 8875761
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure an inner tube comprises an encasing configured to hold air. The encasing comprises a reinforcing structure configured such that, as the encasing is inflated, an overall major diameter of the inner tube is reduced. The inner tube also comprises an inflation valve coupled to the encasing and configured to allow inflation of the encasing. Further, the inner tube comprises a pressure valve coupled to the encasing. The pressure valve is configured to be biased closed and allow air to leave the encasing when a differential pressure between inside of the encasing and outside of the encasing reaches a threshold pressure level. In the same or alternative embodiments, the encasing also comprises a reinforcing structure configured such that, as the encasing is inflated, an overall major diameter of inner tube is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100071820
Abstract: A tire is disclosed comprising a tread portion, two sidewall portions, two bead portions, an internal surface of the tire that forms a tire cavity, and at least three baffles within the tire cavity. The baffles may be made of compressible or non-compressible materials and may further include connecting members, encapsulating liners, or both. Further, a tire kit is disclosed comprising at least three baffles and at least one connecting member that connects the baffles. In addition, a method is disclosed that includes filling a tire with at least three baffles and then assembling the tire on a tire rim to reduce tire noise or to reduce tire force transmissibility.

  • Patent number: 6901981
Abstract: In the present invention, an outer tire is supported and positioned by an auxiliary inner tire such that air can be pumped into the space between the inner and outer tires. When there is a flat tire or leakage, the outer tire is supported by the inner tire and still has an appropriate support to the car, and thus the outer tire will not be compressed completely or grinded by the rim of the wheel, so that the tire will not be damaged easily and the auxiliary inner tire can continue running for a short time.
