With Circumferential Tire Incorporated Clamps Patents (Class 152/387)
  • Publication number: 20090114326
Abstract: Provided are a method and a device for fixing a run-flat support body to a pneumatic tire. The method and the device can achieve the prevention of unevenness in the distribution of the lubricant applied to the inner surface of the tire in which the run-flat support body is used, and thus of deterioration in the weight balance of the wheel. In the fixing method, the run-flat support body configured of a pair of elastic rings to be arranged around a rim and an annular shell installed across these elastic rings is fixed to the pneumatic tire which is to be fitted to the rim with the run-flat support body inserted into a hollow part of the tire. The fixing device, for restricting the radial movements of the run-flat support body inserted into the hollow part, is fitted to at least one of bead parts of the pneumatic tire before the pneumatic tire is fitted to the rim so as to coaxially hold the pneumatic tire and the run-flat support body.

  • Patent number: 5435367
Abstract: A vehicle tire which comprises: a one piece tubular unit adapted to fit snugly over a vehicle wheel wherein said unit consists of a thick tire tread having a road-engaging surface and being formed of an elastomeric material such as rubber, synthetic rubber or the like; a plurality of deep grooves extending laterally through said thick tread and spaced around the entire periphery thereof; and a plurality of clamping members disposed within said grooves and extending therethrough to engage the wheel rim and to secure the one piece unit thereto, said clamps being inwardly spaced from the outer road-engaging surface of said tire tread.

  • Patent number: 4798418
Abstract: The vehicle wheel comprises a rim containing an external closed ring and an internal rim ring composed of three segments and connected to a segmentally separated or segment-shaped divided disc. The beads of the pneumatic tire lie in grooves disposed between the external closed ring and the internal rim ring. Each of these grooves is formed by a bead seat, a vertical web and the external closed ring. Due to the internal pressure of the air in the pneumatic tire, each tire bead is drawn against clamping surfaces of the associated groove and sealed in relation to the external closed ring.

  • Patent number: 4662418
Abstract: A vehicle wheel has a wheel body or hub, an annular rigid rim mounted on it and an elastic inflatable tire mounted on the rim, the beads of the tire engaging annular recesses present on the inner face of the rim. The rim is provided with side flanks of the same curvature matched to the curvature which the flanks of the tire take up in operation, and between which is provided an annular engaging surface extending over the whole width of the rim from flank to flank, this surface giving the wheel good emergency characteristics. The inserts in the beads of the tire do not need any thickened beads which would adversely affect the resilience of its side walls, but only need to be made constructionally and to hold the reinforcing cords. The rim is made in one piece of a light material such as plastics or aluminum and can form an air reservoir for compressed air which is under high pressure and which automatically replenishes the tire when needed.

  • Patent number: 4655270
Abstract: A one-piece rim for a vehicle wheel, especially a truck wheel, on which a pneumatic tire is to be mounted. The rim ring is provided laterally outwardly with rim flanges which extend essentially radially inwardly. Disposed next to these rim flanges, on the radially inner side of the rim ring, are respective seating surfaces for a tire bead. To secure the tire beads on the rim, even in extreme driving situations, the rim ring includes two parts which are undetachably connected with one another and/or the wheel-center disk. Provided laterally inwardly of each rim flange is a respective one-piece clamping ring, which has an outer diameter which is greater than the inner diameter formed by the rim flanges. Spring or snap rings are provided for fixing the clamping rings in position against the tire beads.

  • Patent number: 4577668
Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a one-piece rim and being provided for a pneumatic belted tire. The seats for the tire beads are located on the radially inner surface of the rim. In order to assure trouble-free emergency operation of the tire in the event of damage or a defect, on the rim and/or on the tire, structures are provided which, at least in the region of the support surface of the tire, effect a disengagement of the tire beads from the rim seats during a loss of air pressure, and which prevent an only periodic return of the tire beads to the seats while driving.

  • Patent number: 4563042
Abstract: A covering ring for a vehicle wheel. The bead seating surfaces of a tire are mounted on the radially inner periphery of the rim. In order to prevent dirt and/or water from entering the space between the tire bead and the rim well, the covering ring has a width which covers the space between the tire bead, that portion of the rim which extends axially outwardly from the rim well, and the rim well. Also, provision is made that the radially inner surface of the covering ring, when viewed in the transverse direction, extends horizontally or is laterally inclined toward the outside. Also, provision is made that the radially inner diameter of the covering ring at no point of the space, which is to be covered, be greater than the radially inner diameter of the mounted tire in the bead region.

  • Patent number: 4408647
Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a rigid wheel rim upon which a pneumatic belted tire is mounted. The beads of the tire contain pull-resistant cores, and are secured by a wheel flange against sliding laterally from the seating surfaces. A recess for receiving a tire bead during mounting of the tire is located adjacent to the seating surface on that side facing the rim middle. The seating surfaces are arranged on the inner periphery of the rim adjacent to a radially inwardly extending wheel flange. The base of the recess has a larger diameter than do the seating surfaces. The mantle surfaces of the rim adjacent to the recess are essentially even or smooth supporting surfaces for the tire zenith or crown portion during emergency operation of the tire. The middle portion of the rim, between the mantle surfaces, is also embodied at least partially as a supporting surface for the tire zenith portion during emergency operation of the tire, and the supporting surface lies essentially at the level of the mantle surfaces.
