Abstract: [Problem to be Solved] When a wood raw material is heat-pressed in order to produce a woody material or woody board, steam is generated in an interior of the wood raw material. The heat-pressed wood raw material is then decompressed with the steam staying in the interior of the wood raw material. This causes a puncture or a rupture of the woody material. The puncture occurs in the last phase of the production process, thus spoiling the entire production process. In order to avoid the puncture, the wood raw material needs to be dried completely. This requires a large amount of energy.

Abstract: A laminating machine and a method for the production of laminated polyethylene foam sheets is described. The machine comprises a conveyor belt having at least two laminating assemblies disposed in spaced-apart relationship therealong. Each laminating assembly has a hot air diffuser for dispensing an elongated ribbon of hot air across the conveyor belt and a press roll which is spaced behind the hot air diffuse. A sheet laminating slot is defined between the diffuse and the press roll. The top surface of a lower polyethylene foam sheet passing under the laminating assembly and the bottom surface of an upper polyethylene foam sheet entering the laminating slot are heated by the hot air ribbon and juxtaposed and pressed by the press roll whereby to fuse the two polyethylene foam sheets together. A plurality of polyethylene foam sheets can be laminated by having a plurality of laminating assemblies along the conveyor.

Abstract: The present invention is used for setting and bonding fasteners to support surfaces. The fasteners are provided with connecting surfaces which are coated with a dry hot-melt-type adhesive on the bare side thereof. The adhesive can be reactivated by means of heat treatment. The setting device includes a housing (1) having a receiving component (2) that is displaceably guided therein and is used for the fastener (3) as well as means for quickly heating the hot-melt-type adhesive, lowering the receiving component (2) and pressing the adherent (25) after the adhesive has been melt on. Heating is carried out by means of hot air (H) which is supplied passing the housing (1) and in that the receiving component (2) is surrounded by a closed wall (7) that extends from the hot air discharge location in the housing (1) to the fastener (3). The hot air (H) can thus be conveyed to the adhering hot-melt-type adhesive before or while the fastener (3) rests on the support surface (25).

Abstract: Devices and methods for inflating and sealing packaging pillows from a material web are shown for consistently producing high-quality packaging pillows. A web of material is advanced past an inflation nozzle, inflated with gas, and sealed closed by a sealing element. The temperature of the sealing element is monitored using a thermocouple connection and automatically adjusted using a closed-loop system. A sealing clamp parallel to the sealing element maintains two sheets of the web in contact through the sealing step. The inflation nozzle is provided with two inflation outlets: a first outlet inserting gas longitudinally into the web of material, and a second outlet inserting gas laterally into the material. Gas input is controlled with the use of relief valves to maintain pillow quality at all stages of production.

  • Patent number: 6866077
Abstract: An automatic welding machine for planar plastic materials, such as sealing sheets, tarpaulins or films, the chassis, in the welding position, in addition to being carried by the driving unit and the pressure device, also being carried by a rigid guide wheel, preferably in the front region of the chassis. With respect to a pressure roller running essentially on the welded overlap region, the guide wheel is arranged in such a way that, during the welding, it runs along the bottom plastic material parallel to the edge of the top plastic material. In addition, the guide wheel has a narrow running surface. During the welding, the guide wheel runs along the edge of the overlapping plastic material and the pressure roller runs essentially on the weld region. Due to this configuration, the automatic welding machine can follow the edge in such a way as to keep to the track, so that guidance by the operator or frequent corrections of the welding direction are not necessary.

Abstract: A table receives an object, subjected to the adhesion process, in an adhesive setting apparatus. An adhesive have been applied on the object on the table. An exposure mechanism is designed to expose the adhesive to a gaseous accelerator. The adhesive setting apparatus utilizes the gaseous accelerator to promote the setting or hardening of the adhesive. The gaseous accelerator uniformly contacts the adhesive as compared with the mist of the accelerator. Since the adhesive is uniformly exposed to the gaseous accelerator, an uneven progression can reliably be avoided in the setting of the adhesive. It is possible to reliably avoid heterogeneity or localization of the set adhesive.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for welding thermoplastic materials with a stir welding system using a rotating element pin or element with a geometry to induce frictional energy from the rotating element. A floating constraining surface that has a motion independent of the rotation the pin (preferably stationary) is used to constrain ejection of material from the zone where the weld is being formed. Molten material is retained in the weld region, avoiding weakness and voids at the weld joint. Optionally a system for introducing thermal energy into the weld zone in addition to the frictional energy is used. The system for introducing the thermal energy may be in association with the constraining shoe and/or the rotating tool, or a system independent of these.
