  • Patent number: 8789571
Abstract: An extremely practical prepreg manufacturing device whereby a fiber body can be easily impregnated with a high-viscosity, low-concentration thermosetting resin using existing hot-melt method equipment, without having to use a solvent. In a prepreg manufacturing device for manufacturing a prepreg (5) by laminating and heating a resin sheet (4) formed by laminating a resin (3) with a release film (2), a resin sheet feeding mechanism (6) for feeding the resin sheet (4) laminated with a conveyed fiber body (1) comprises a release film feeding part (7) for feeding the release film (2), and a resin application part (8) for applying the resin (3) on the release film (2), the resin (3) containing a solvent. The resin sheet feeding mechanism (6) is configured so that the fiber body (1) is laminated with the resin sheet (4) formed by laminating the resin (3) with the release film (2), without the resin sheet (4) being formed into a roll shape.

In the process of carrying a single veneer piece (T) in the orthogonal direction against the joining edge (Te) on the conveyor, the joining edges of the preceding and succeeding single veneer pieces come close together, the adhesive material (Sd) is supplied to the clearance between the joining edges, and then the adhesion enhancing action is supplied to the said adhesive material (Sd) to join each single veneer piece (T) successively. The adhesion enhancing action can be applied within the adhesion enhancing section as indicated by lines (Z1) and (Z2), provided on the farther side from the edge approaching position (U) via an adhesion enhancing component (6) to move back and forth at any time while the single veneer piece (T) is being carried or such a motion is halted.

The applicator tools disclosed include means to engage a container of sealant, the tool having a foot at one end, with a leg portion above the foot of the relatively narrow cross-section, whereby the foot may be passed under the edges of the materials being joined. A conduit communicates with the sealant container, and with openings in or near the foot, to ensure effective sealant application to the materials being joined, both under the edges of the material, and on the edges of the material itself.

  • Patent number: 4427487
Abstract: An automatic continuous gluing machine for the application of the glue onto he border of a panel being coated is described. The machine eliminates the necessity of pregluing the coating strips because it provides for the application of glue both on the panel and onto the strip, while the panel advances along the plane of operation. The machine is provided with lamps and a jet of hot air to heat the panel and the strip respectively, and pressure rollers to hold the panel and strip adhering to each other.

  • Patent number: 4396454
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming an insulation blanket adapted for use in the accelerated curing of prestressed concrete is disclosed. Sets of feed rollers are positioned in equal numbers on opposite sides of a take-up drum. The feed rollers of each set carry a vinyl material forming an outer layer of said blanket. Each roller of said set is offet relative to the adjacent rollers so that the ends thereof overlap with respect to the adjacent rollers. An insulation feed roller feeds a heavy insulation medium layer onto the take-up drum. Equal numbers of sets of said feed rollers apply said vinyl outer layer to opposite sides of said medium layer. Adhesive is applied to each feed roller as the vinyl outer layer leaves said feed roller, providing means for joining the vinyl materials together and to the medium layer.

  • Patent number: 4314871
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of and apparatus for laminating timber to form beams for use in structural and other uses. The beam is formed from timber strips forced through a set of pressure means comprising preferably pressure rollers in a side by side relationship with bonding medium applied to the vertical sides of the strips. These sides preferably have interengaging castellations formed thereon for improved connection between the strips. The strips are formed from timber lengths which are connected together preferably by finger jointing. The bonding medium is applied to the side faces of the timber lengths and to the ends at the same time. A braking system ensures that the ends of timber lengths are spaced well apart to enable adequate bonding medium to be applied to the timber length ends.

  • Patent number: 4242161
Abstract: A method and a machine for producing a latticework structure composed of cells of essentially parallelepipedon shape from e.g. paper coated on one side with synthetic resin. The web is formed over a mandrel into a sleeve of square cross-sectional shape while being successively advanced, and the sleeve is cut into bits which are flattened and by a step-by-step feeding mechanism positioned adjacent one another with one bit overlapping the following one over halfway in the transverse direction. The bits are bonded together while so positioned whereby flat elements are formed. These flat elements are stacked on top of one another by a mechanism ensuring that the elements are displaced by one cell width in their longitudinal direction and the stack of elements is then cut into pieces having the desired height of the cells. When extended, these pieces form the desired cellular latticework structure.

  • Patent number: 4238273
Abstract: A machine for making hanging file folders, each of which folders comprises a folded paperboard blank and a pair of support rods fastened to the upper edges of the folded blanks and includes a rod applicator mechanism comprising a conveyor for moving an unfolded flat blank having glue patterns thereon along a path; a mechanism for momentarily interrupting or stopping movement of the blank along the path; a pair of rod-dispensing magazines adjacent the path; and rod transfer mechanisms for transferring rods from the magazines and applying them to the glue patterns while the blank is stopped, whereafter blank movement resumes. The conveyor includes a pair of separable rollers between which the blank passes and by which it is advanced when the rollers are closed. The mechanism for momentarily interrupting movement of the blank effects momentary separation of the rollers and includes a stop member temporarily movable into the path of movement of the blank to arrest its progress after the rollers separate.

  • Patent number: 3938467
Abstract: System and application head for depositing adhesives on surfaces to be bonded. The system includes a supply of adhesive and a pump for urging the adhesive through an outlet line leading from the adhesive supply. A regulator is situated in the adhesive outlet line to provide a substantially constant pressure in the adhesive flow to the downstream system components. An adhesive valve controls delivery of the adhesive to the application head. Means are provided for sensing when the surface to be bonded is in position adjacent to the application head to actuate a timer for controlling the valve whereby adhesive flows to the head for a predetermined period of time. Reverse pressure is then imposed to withdraw adhesive from the application head. The adhesive is deposited on the surface to be bonded during the time when the application head and the surface to be bonded are in cooperation. The head includes internal passages for directing adhesive therethrough to be applied to the surfaces to be bonded.

  • Patent number: RE41347
Abstract: This invention provides joining methods of single veneer piece and a joining apparatus, which can produce more efficient, and effective joining process than the conventional method and apparatus produce.
