  • Patent number: 8012279
Abstract: In a method for labeling, a label strip (20) is moved by means of an electric motor (80). Arranged on this label strip are labels (26) of predetermined length (EL) with uniform interstices (SB). The motor has associated with it a position controller (218), also a sensor (44) for sensing a predetermined position of a label (26) when the latter is moved on the label strip (20) relative to the sensor (44). The method has the following steps: in accordance with a stored profile, the label strip (20) is set in motion beginning from a start position (A), a first target position (Z) of the label strip being specified to the position controller (218); during the motion of the label strip (20), a predetermined position (M) of the label strip (20) is sensed; and subsequently thereto, a revised target position (Z) is specified to the position controller (218). This makes possible fast and precise labeling, since the target position can be reached very accurately. A corresponding device has a compact design.

  • Patent number: 7293592
Abstract: Self-adhesive labels are formed by repetitively cutting linerless web material which is fed from a roll into and through a rotary knife cutter. The labels are then transported to and applied to articles. To improve cutting of the web and labeling, the web and or labels are contoured, e.g., they are made concave, in a plane transverse to the direction of flow path. To contour the web or labels, alternative endless belt arrangements are used, wherein the center line of the adhesive side of the web is adhered to a belt surface. Preferably, a one-piece belt having spaced apart and movable lengthwise portions is used. Different transport velocities are used for web fed to the cutter and for labels taken-away from the cutter. Cutter motion, and thus label length, in forming either linerless and lined labels, is controlled according to how printed indicia bar marks on the web are severed into portions; alternatively, according to whether or not the cut falls between two spaced apart printed indicia.

Abstract: The invention concerns a process and a device for attaching a label jacket to objects, such as bottles or similar items, where a jacket label is seized by its forward margin by a spreading jaw unit and pulled in axial direction over the object, where the object, before the pull-over application, is held by the area of its mantle surface, by positive and/or friction lock, the pull-over process is started, the holding device on the mantle surface is temporarily released as soon as the spreading jaw unit at least partially surrounds the object at its mantle surface, and, at the latest before the desired adhesion height of the label jacket on the object is reached, the latter objects is again seized by the area of its mantle surface, which is now covered with the label, and in the process the label is affixed in a non-slip manner, while the spreading jaw unit is pulled off.

Abstract: A compact disk (DVD) manufacturing machine is used to laminate first and second DVD substrates to produce a DVD, and mainly includes a glue applicator for applying a glue ring on a laminating surface of each DVD substrate; a DVD laminator for turning the first DVD substrate to the second one at predetermined speeds, allowing the glue rings to contact with each other before the two DVD substrates are slowly laminated; and a rotating element below a fixed sucker of the DVD laminator for rotating the laminated DVD substrates and ensuring even spread of the glue between the two substrates without producing blisters. Since the gluing and the laminating are synchronously performed at two different positions on a turntable of the machine, an increased productivity may be obtained.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical disc and a method for transporting a multi-layered optical disc are provided. When adhering the sheet and the disc substrate, after the adhesive is supplied to the outer side of the groove on the disc substrate, the sheet is loaded on the disc substrate. The adhesive is pressed to extend to the groove. At this timer, because the surplus adhesive is blocked when flowing into the groove, the surplus adhesive does not overflow easily toward the inner side of the groove. In addition, even if the adhesive overflows toward the inner side of the groove the adhesive is kept between the non-adhered portion of the sheet and the disc substrate, preventing the adhesive from moving to the disc surface. The non-adhered portion is cut by the cutting blade after the adhesive is completely cured, and then removed from the disc substrate.

Abstract: A label fitting apparatus for fitting a label on a container. The label fitting apparatus includes label fitting heads at even intervals on an outer perimeter of a main turret. Each fitting head includes a container table to support a container, a container presser bar to apply a force to a top of the container, and a label holder to hold the label. Rotation of the main turret causes the container presser bar to lower and pass through a label held by the vacuum jaws to apply a pressing force against a container supported by the container table such that the container is sandwiched between the container table and the container presser bar. The container is transferred in an axial direction relative to the label holder such that the label is fitted on the container.

Abstract: A device for affixing an adhesive label to a package comprises a piston and cylinder. The cylinder comprises two connections arranged on a wall of the cylinder spaced apart from each other, which are alternatively connected to either a positive or a negative pressure media source. The connections control the movement of the piston inside the cylinder so that the piston can move between a first dead center position and a second dead center position thereby causing a stamp to affix a label to the package. Shortly before reaching the first dead center, the piston blocks the first connection with its cylindrical wall, thereby stopping any increase in negative pressure between the piston and the first dead end position.

Abstract: An improved method of and apparatus that is continuously automatically operative in an in-line system is described for applying under vacuum, heat and mechanical pressure a dry film photoresist-forming layer to printed circuit boards (200) that already have been prelaminated by the loose application thereto of the dry film resist as discrete cut sheets within the confines of the surface of the boards whereby a laminate without entrapped air bubbles and closely conforming to the raised circuit traces and irregular surface contours of the printed circuit board is obtained. Featured is a conveyorized vacuum applicator (12) comprising two independent vacuum lamination chambers (18,20) in end-to-end relation. The first vacuum chamber operates at ambient temperature to draw off all of the air entrapped between the dry film resist and the surface of the printed circuit board at conditions that do not result in premature tacking of the dry film to the surface of the board.

Abstract: A sample pretreatment system is equipped with a label sticking apparatus for sticking labels on containers. In this system, a manipulator 72 grasps and holds a container before label sticking from the pipetting apparatus to convey it to a receiving position on the line L—L along with the raising/lowering path of a container holding device 82. The container holding device 82 is raised by the raising/lowering mechanism 86 to be positioned at a receiving position in a complexly opened state. After receiving the container, the container holding device 82 is lowered, and then the container holding device 82 carries out the closing operation according to the lowering motion, thereby enabling to hold the container reliably irrespective of the diameter of the container. At the label sticking position which is set at a lower position, a label is stuck to the container.
