Patent number: 5129984Abstract: A bottle labelling machine for pressing labels on bottles. The machine includes a transport star wheel with receptacles for the bottles located on its circumference. A support located above the transport star wheel has application elements located on the circumference of said support. The circular orbit of the application elements has a smaller diameter than and diverges in relation to the orbit of the receptacles.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1990Date of Patent: July 14, 1992Assignee: ETI-TEC Maschinenbau GmbHInventors: Josef Tomashauser, Rudolf Zodrow

Patent number: 4976803Abstract: This invention relates to a pressing station for metal foil sheets applied around the top and neck of bottles. By means of bell-shaped pressing elements which can be axially lowered toward the bottle top, the foil sheets are firmly applied to the top and neck of the bottle. The pressing elements corresponding to each receiving position of the delivery star wheel are each supported by a crank. By means of a three-dimensional drive mechanism, each crank and thus also each pressing element can be lowered to the top of a bottle. To prevent collisions in the overlapping area of the rotational paths of the turntable and the delivery star wheel, each crank is coupled with another drive mechanism, which engages the crank. The cams of the two cam drive mechanisms are designed so that the pressing element is in its raised inside position in the vicinity of the turntable, and in its lowered, outside position in a portion of the area between the turntable and the delivery of the delivery star wheel.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1989Date of Patent: December 11, 1990Assignee: ETI-TEC Maschinenbau GmbHInventors: Josef Tomashauer, Rudolf Zodrow, Rainer Buchholz

Patent number: 4814031Abstract: A method of and device for imprinting the upper surface of a container that has a closure at its upper surface, especially of a bottle with a head that is wrapped along with its cap all the way around with a blank, especially of foil, by applying the blank around the head while leaving part of the blank to project beyond it, wrapping the sleeve-shaped extension to one side against the upper surface of the cap, and pressing it down with a resilient pad. The disk is embossed at the upper surface, the blank of foil is pressed down with the resilient pad, forcing foil into the embossed areas, and the raised areas of the embossing are then burnished with a hard pressure-application component.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1986Date of Patent: March 21, 1989Inventor: Rudolf Zodrow

Patent number: 4737209Abstract: A method of and device for applying foil to a container that has a closure over its upper surface, and especially to a bottle with a head that along with its cap is to be wrapped all the way around with a blank, especially of foil, by applying the blank around the head while leaving part of the blank to project beyond it, wrapping the sleeve-shaped extension to one side against the upper surface of the cap to create an outer cap cover, and pressing it down, especially with a resilient pad.Type: GrantFiled: October 8, 1986Date of Patent: April 12, 1988Inventors: Josef Tomashauser, Rudolf Zodrow, Rudolf Gruber

Patent number: 4692201Abstract: A device for smoothing and pressing down in labeling machines, intended for the point of a blank of foil wrapped around the neck and head of a bottle with the point projecting at the head, and having a pot-like housing that can be moved axially against the head of the bottle and accommodates an elastic sponge structure. To allow the device to handle the blank of foil gently, apply it uniform and smooth to the head of bottle even in the vicinity of depressed zones of the head, and to prolong its life, the face of the sponge structure toward the head of the bottle has a recess that in the pressing-down position embraces at least the head of the bottle on all sides subject to slight tension.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1985Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Assignee: Jagenberg AktiengesellschaftInventors: Rudolf Zodrow, Josef Tomashauser

Patent number: 4613397Abstract: In equipment that is intended for applying a blank of foil to bottles and that includes a turntable, at least one labeling station, a rotating transport star that has accommodations for the bottles and is positioned downstream of the turntable, and a rotating transfer-and-application device consisting of several similar units distributed around its circumference with elements that fold and press down the ends of the blank extending beyond the head of each bottle, the pressure-application elements and if necessary the folding elements are, as they revolve, kept outside the circumference of the elements on the turntable that accommodate the bottle. This avoids collisions at this point. The axis of rotation of the pressure-application elements and the axis of rotation of the output star are accordingly mutually eccentric in such a way that the orbits of the accommodations and of the pressure-application elements coincide along one segment.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1984Date of Patent: September 23, 1986Assignee: Jagenberg AGInventor: Rainer Buchholz

Patent number: 4536247Abstract: There is described an apparatus and a method for the foil-capping of bottles with a patch of metal foil having a point and an adhesive back, comprising(a) adhering each patch to the neck of a bottle by its central area with the upper area of the foil projecting above the bottle neck,(b) applying the laterally projecting patch ends so that they overlap one another,(c) folding down the area of each patch projecting above the bottle neck to the bottle side away from the patch point, and(d) simultaneously pressing down and smoothing the folded down patch area onto the top side and all about the circumferential margin adjacent thereto.A neater tear-free arrangement of the foil about the top and sides of the neck of the bottle results.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1983Date of Patent: August 20, 1985Assignee: Jagenberg AGInventors: Rainer Buchholz, Josef Tomashauser, Rudolf Zodrow, Hans-Werner Mohn

Patent number: 4306926Abstract: A bottle labeling method and machine has a bottle conveyor which transports bottles past two labeling stations and which rotationally controls the bottles to place them into different positions appropriate to the affixing and pressing on of labels. In the first labeling station in the direction of bottle travel, the simultaneous transfer of a bottle-neck foil and of a back label is effected and in the second labeling station the simultaneous transfer of one of at least one partial neck label and a neck ring label and of a belly label is effected.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1980Date of Patent: December 22, 1981Assignee: Jagenberg Werke AGInventor: Manfred Pfulb
