Abstract: A bead pressing device of a tire mounting/dismounting apparatus is provided which separates a tire bead from a wheel rim without causing damage to the tire and enhances the efficiency of the work of exchanging the tire. A bead roller and a roller moving section are disposed on one end of a bead pressing arm that is displaced in a direction close to a rotational axis of a turntable and in a direction away from the rotational axis and which is displaced in an upward direction and in a downward direction. While the bead pressing arm is moved down, the bead roller presses a tire bead and the roller moving section displaces the bead roller in a direction close to a wheel rim to press the tire bead to the wheel drop, thereby separating the tire bead from the wheel rim.

  • Patent number: 7584775
Abstract: The invention provides a tire mounter capable of preventing a tire from being damaged by minimizing a contact of a bead part of the tire relative to a wheel. The tire mounter, for receiving the wheel on which the tire is temporarily fixed aslant and mounting the tire on the wheel from a temporarily fixed state when mounting the tire, comprises a bead guide plate having an arc-shaped plate piece, the arc-shaped plate piece having a bottom surface side positioned on an upper surface side of the wheel, and an outer peripheral arc-shaped part positioned on an outer peripheral surface of the wheel. The bead guide plate is turned toward a bead part of the tire at a non-mounting side of the tire while being interlocked with a turning of a tire bead press roller, and thereby the bead guide plate turns ahead of the tire bead press roller so that the bead part of the tire at the non-mounting side of the tire slides on a surface side of the bead guide plate to be mounted on the wheel.

  • Patent number: 6877544
Abstract: A tire mounting apparatus for mounting a flexible tire on a rim includes a robot having at least one articulated joint and a wrist. The robot is moveable with at least three degrees of freedom along a selectable one of a plurality of programmable predetermined paths. A central processing unit selectively executes any one of the plurality of paths stored in memory. A bead mounting tool is attachable to the wrist of the robot for movement along the selected one of the plurality of programmable predetermined paths of the robot. The tool is orientatable with at least three degrees of freedom independent of the selected one of the plurality of programmable predetermined paths. A workpiece support positions the rim in a predetermined location with respect to the robot and positions the tire in a predetermined orientation with respect to the rim. A signal is generated and sent to the robot corresponding to a size of the rim and tire combination to be assembled.

Abstract: An assembly for mating a tire with a wheel includes a conveyance device, which supports a device, i.e. first plate for supporting the wheel having spaced seats extending around a vertical axis. A tire support, i.e. second plate supports the tire having spaced beads on the wheel with one bead looped between the seats and outside the seats. A tool of the present invention forms the seats over the bead with the entire bead disposed between said seats. A tread support, i.e. a pair of walls spaced one from the other, are connected to the second plate for engaging the tread of the tire. The tire support includes connectors for adjusting the pair of walls horizontally to and away from the vertical axis. A side support, i.e. arms; are adjustably supported on the respective walls for engaging the side of the tire.

  • Patent number: 6659153
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for fitting motor vehicle tires onto rims of disk wheels having a tire fitting tool (17) which can rotate about an axis and is mounted at a distance from the axis, an electric motor (2) as a drive motor for a rotational drive of the tire fitting tool (17) about the axis and a power supply device for the drive motor, the power supply device being connected to a gradient-limiting device which, when a predefined gradient of the torque transmitted from the drive motor (2) to the tire fitting tool (17) is exceeded, causes a braking current for stopping the rotational drive to be supplied to the drive motor (2). With the gradient as switch-off criterion, switching off takes place significantly before the limiting value of the torque or of the motor current is reached, so that the tire is handled more gently and it is ensured that the tire is not damaged by the interrupted fitting procedure.
