  • Patent number: 5074346
Abstract: A tire grooving apparatus according to the present invention consists of a movable carriage (3) adapted to be moved at least in the direction parallel with a tire support shaft (21), a vertically movable block (32) provided on the carriage (3) and adapted to be moved freely in the vertical direction, and a pivotable arm (4), provided on the block (32), having a cutter support unit (5) at the free end portion thereof. The cutter support unit (5) of the invention is movable up and down independently of movable block (32). As the cutter support unit (5) which is attached to the free end portion of the pivotable arm (4) can be so moved up and down independently, the depth of a tread pattern groove can be adjusted and a cutting position of a cutter (6) set arbitrarily, without replacing the cutter (6), without moving the block (32) vertically and without need of a program for correcting the quantity of movement of the cutter.

  • Patent number: 5009257
Abstract: An apparatus used as an aid in the removal of low-pressure tires from wheels of all-terrain vehicles (ATV's) functioning as a "bead breaker". The tool includes a support base for receiving wheel and tire, a linkage-supporting upright post extending upwardly from said support base, a pair of operators, listed in respect to their actual operating sequence as, (1) an operator for actuating tire sidewall clamping device, (2) an operator for actuating bead press shoe, a bead press shoe and fastening devices for each operator. A unique feature of the tool being its ability to clamp an ATV tire sidewall and hold same in a fixed position relative to the tire bead press shoe thereby insuring collapse of the tire bead during downward movement of tire bead press shoe.

  • Patent number: 4890661
Abstract: A tire demounting apparatus for a tire secured to a wheel rim, having a actuating lever, pivotably supported on the wheel about a first pivot axis, and a tire bead holder pivotably supported on the actuating lever about a second axis. The tire bead holder has an engagement portion engaging the tire bead. Upon pivoting of the actuating lever in the intended demounting pivot direction, the tire bead holder engaging the tire bead pivots in the opposite direction on the actuating lever, thereby engaging a tire bead portion to be released. The portion engaged by the tire bead holder is initially moved radially inward out of range of the wheel flange, and then in the axial direction away from the wheel. The tire demounting apparatus also includes a stop which limits the pivoting motion of the tire bead holder on the actuating lever oriented opposite the demounting pivoting direction of the actuating lever.

  • Patent number: 4817697
Abstract: An apparatus for grooving a tire which comprises a tire support shaft for rotatably supporting the tire and a support frame having a cutter device mounted thereon. The cutter device and the tire support shaft are movable relative to each other in a transverse direction parallel with the tire support shaft and perpendicular to the tire support shaft. The cutter is supportable at a desired angle with the tread surface, and the cutter blade is rotatable in the direction of the groove to be formed. The cutting position of the cutter is on the axis of an arm support shaft and is controllable by the combination of orthogonal coordinates to simplify the control program for the apparatus. When required, the cutter is swingably attached to a cutter holder to enable the cutter to cut the tire rubber and to be released therefrom with ease without the need to heat the cutter.
