Patent number: 8460509Abstract: A fluid evaporation system includes a housing bounding a fluid reservoir and an air flow path that is disposed over top of the fluid reservoir. The housing has an inlet opening and a spaced apart outlet opening that both provide communication between the outside environment and the air flow path. A fan is positioned to draw the air out of the air flow path through the outlet opening. A baffle projects into the air flow path at a location between inlet opening and the outlet opening so as to constrict the area of the air flow path thereat. A plurality of spray nozzles are positioned within air flow path between the baffle and the first end of the housing. A pump is configured to draw fluid from the reservoir and deliver it to the plurality of spray nozzles.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2008Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Total Water Management, LLCInventors: Janos I. Lakatos, Edward Clay Slade, Clayton R. Carter

Patent number: 5276977Abstract: This is a method and apparatus for drying microalgae/microalgal products which have been harvested and strained of excess water by a spray drying process. The method comprises, obtaining drying gas from a burner in which metered input air for combustion is mixed with fuel at or before a dryer gas heating burner and which does not require oxygen in the drying gas that is heated; using the drying gas to dry the microalgae/microalgal products in a spray dryer; separating dryed microalgae/microalgal products from moist drying gas in a cyclone; scrubbing and dehumidifying the moist drying gas; recycling the scrubbed and dehumidified drying gas to the dryer gas heating burner; and, venting a portion of the drying gas equivalent in volume to combustion gases generated in the burner. Scrubbing and dehumidifying is accomplished by spraying the moist drying gas with sea water at a temperature below 60.degree. Patent number: 5032222Abstract: A spray drier (1) for the preparation of powders, agglomerates or the like, by the drying of pumpable products, has at an inlet (6) of its exhaust discharge line or lines (7) for the drying gas used in its drying chamber (3), a wind sifter (9) with a rotating bucket wheel (10). The flow generated by the rotating bucket wheel (10) of the wind sifter (9) acts against the exhaust suction flow. The discharge of fine materials is directed into the exhaust line (7) and the coarse material discharge (8) takes place in the drying chamber (3). Consequently, excellent desired separation of the coarse material component from the fine material component can be obtained within the drying chamber.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1988Date of Patent: July 16, 1991Assignee: Ciba-Geigy CorporationInventor: Alain Millioud

Patent number: 4555390Abstract: Sulfur oxides and other acid gases are removed from hot flue gases by dispersing and suspending an absorption agent and water, preferably Ca(OH).sub.2 suspended in water, in a rising stream of hot gas at the lower part of a reaction chamber, where the hot gases are subjected to a rapid reduction in velocity. Sulfur oxides and other acid gases are absorbed on and reacted with the absorption agent in the presence of evaporating water producing a dry powder which is separated from the flue gas in a particle precipitator and partially recirculated to the reaction chamber.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1983Date of Patent: November 26, 1985Assignee: F. Patent number: 4450344Abstract: A combined microwave and electric heater oven includes a fan system for cooling a magnetron, and a damper for selectively introducing a forced air flow generated by the fan system into an oven cavity. A damper cam is secured to a drive shaft of a damper motor, and a damper link is disposed between the damper cam and the damper to drive the damper. A microswitch is disposed near the damper cam so that the microswitch develops a first detection signal when the damper is tightly closed. In response to the first detection signal, the rotation of the damper motor is terminated to hold the damper in the tightly closed state. The microswitch develops a second detection signal when the damper is placed in the full-open state. In response to the second detection signal, the rotation of the damper motor is terminated to hold the damper in the full-open state.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 1982Date of Patent: May 22, 1984Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yasuhiro Sakoda, Kazuyuki Matsubayashi

Patent number: 4131507Abstract: An evaporator which is specifically adapted for the evaporation of sugar cane juices, however, it is a versatile apparatus and may be used with equal facility in various evaporating situations. Instead of using steam as is conventional, the heating medium to produce the required evaporation comprises waste combustion gases. Gas orienting means is included through which the hot waste gases flow to an enclosed area of generally hour glass shape. The entire apparatus is of generally circular configuration and includes a circular evaporating area into which the juices are pumped and are under pressure and in which they are evaporated. The circular evaporating area into which the juices are pumped and where evaporation occurs is in heat transfer relationship with the enclosed area through which the hot waste gases flow.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1977Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Inventor: Adolfo J.
