Abstract: A moveable sliding glass door track clip guide, ideally formed of plastic, and attached to the bead on the top of the rail on the sill which is subsequently secured in place by a sliding glass door track clip cover which will inhibit the door from jumping the track in strong wind loads. The guide contributes significantly to the general security of the SGD installation, since SGD's, by design, must be lifted then set upon their track. The guide slidably engages the upper bead on the track on the sill and thus resists the effort of the door to jump off the track by actually gripping the track itself. The method of the present invention involves the steps of first positioning a moveable panel in place. Thereafter, the main attachment screw is removed, and passed through the clip assembly. Abstract: A roller assembly for sliding doors and the like includes a case adapted for mounting on the door and forming a cavity that is open at the end adjacent the sliding edge of the door, a carrier located within the cavity of the case and mounted for reciprocating movement relative to the open end of the cavity, and at least one roller journaled on the carrier adjacent the open end of the cavity and projecting beyond the case. A cam is journalled on the case, and a cam follower is provided on the carrier for adjusting the position of the carrier in response to rotational movement of the cam. The case comprises a unitary molded plastic member with the bearings for the cam being formed by a pair of opposed walls of the case, and the bearings open into a pair of slots extending continuously from the bearings to one end of the case for admitting the cam into the bearings as the carrier is inserted into the case.

  • Patent number: 4127968
Abstract: A debris-collecting assembly for a sliding door track in which a door is slidably mounted in an elongate lower channel of a door frame for movement between open and closed positions, and a top-open pan is removably located in the channel, the pan being open at one end to receive debris swept along the channel when the door is in its open position, and to receive the door in its closed position. An elongate track is in the channel and slidably engages the door, the track being spaced from a closed channel end to provide a compartment, and the pan is removably located in the channel compartment with the open pan end facing toward the track. In a double door assembly a pair of channels are disposed in side-by-side relation with a door slidably mounted in each channel. A passage between the channels places the channels in communication.

  • Patent number: 4102009
Abstract: A simple, adjustable roller assembly for supporting sliding track doors and windows and comprising a U shaped bracket which journals a roller and includes a corner opposite from the journaled roller which engages the intersection between the stile and rail of a door frame. An adjusting screw passes through the stile or rail and engages the U shaped bracket whereby tightening of the screw pivots the bracket and roller into increasing downward movement by pivoting the bracket with respect to the inside corner defined by the junction of the stile and rail. In one alternate embodiment, a single screw adjusts a pair of side by side rollers journaled on a common shaft. In another embodiment the U shaped member includes a tap member extendable outward and securable at a spaced point on the door rail or sill. Tightening of this screw serves to bend the tab member and adjust the roller position. The bendable tab actually provides a degree of spring support for the door.

  • Patent number: 4064592
Abstract: Wheels for movement along a floor-mounted track at the bottom of a sliding door are shown supported within U-shaped members which are pivotally coupled to brackets secured to the lower edge of the door. The wheels are prevented from being dislodged from the track via retainer elements, each of which is a channel element having an elongated opening in its web and inturned flange terminations at the edges of its walls. An integral plate extends from one side of the channel and is pivotally mounted on the pin or stub shaft extending through the wheel and U-shaped member. The retainer element is significantly longer than the diameter of the wheel, and the flange terminations are snapped over the track and in interference relation with lips of the track. The wheel at its lower portion extends through the opening in the retainer element and rides on the track.

  • Patent number: 3956854
Abstract: In a sash window or like panel assembly wherein each sash is rollable horizontally over a rail on the sill of a generally rectangular supporting frame, each roller of the sash is rotatably supported by an inverted-U-shaped roller support which is fixedly mounted in a selected position in a downwardly opening channel formed in the bottom horizontal member of the sash. The roller support has, typically, a pair of resilient hooks fashioned by inwardly folding the bottom ends of its opposed side portions, which hooks are engageable with respective overhangs formed on both sides of the rail throughout its full length.
