  • Patent number: 4542681
Abstract: A supporting structure by which the line curtain in a mine ventilation system can be extended in a cantilevered fashion from the last permanent roof support adjacent the working face of the mine so that the free edge of the extended line curtain will be adjacent the working face of the mine to assure that the face area where the mining is being done will be kept properly ventilated and free of dangerous gases and the like.

  • Patent number: 4534079
Abstract: A folding bridge is provided with flush top and bottom chords when opened through 180.degree. by a hinge comprising two hinge blocks pivotally interconnected by a swinging link, the rotation of each block relative to the link being limited to 90.degree. by a stop mechanism and being sequenced by a restraining mechanism. In specific application to a bridge, the restraining mechanism is gravity urged.

  • Patent number: 4441376
Abstract: A motor driven hinge assembly for effecting relative pivotal motion between hinged members. The assembly includes first and second members hinged together, drive links slidingly connected to the first member and pivotally connected to the second member, a motor disposed within the first member and a gear train and lead screw connecting the motor with the drive links. Actuation of the motor effects pivotal motion of the second member relative to the first member between folded and unfolded positions.

  • Patent number: 4437410
Abstract: An enclosure for the end opening of a vehicle having one or more interior elevated decks includes a pair of door assemblies each comprising a plurality of pivotally joined panels. The door assemblies are suspended in a vertical manner by means of hanger assemblies having tracking elements guided within a rail member disposed above the level of a vehicle elevated deck. Transverse movement of any panel concurrently displaces the entire associated door assembly, as a unitary articulated assembly, between a closed position sealing off the end opening, and an open position with the door assembly well-spaced from a lateral edge of the deck, in which latter position maximum lateral clearance is provided for lading carried by all decks or levels.

  • Patent number: 4424606
Abstract: This invention deals with a hinge for opening or closing a dust cover of record players, which, in order to keep the hinge body from being exposed, to prevent the opened dust cover from excessively projecting rearwardly and to stably sustain the dust cover at an intermediate opening angle, comprises: a cabinet; a dust cover; a slider disposed vertically slidable in the rear portion of the cabinet on each side; a spring urging the slider upward; a support member removably mounted to the dust cover and rotatably mounted on the cabinet by a hinge pin; and a follower provided to the support member and adapted to contact the head of the slider. The hinge of this invention may be provided, in addition to the above construction, with a means to stably sustain the dust cover at an intermediate opening angle.

  • Patent number: 4400847
Abstract: A pair of male and female hinge halves fabricated of extruded metal sections having complemental cross-sectional shapes so as to slidingly interfit and interhookingly engage with one another define a longitudinally extending through opening at one transverse side for the reception of a hinge pin, and interhooking means at the opposite side for interhooking engagement with the complementary shape of an extruded metal frame member of a solar collector frame or the like to be adjustably supported. The interhooking engagement between the hinge halves provides a limited movement fulcrum between the two transverse sides serving to clamp the opposite side interhooking means in secure frictional abutment with the extruded metal frame member when the hinge pin is force-fitted into its through opening.
